Holiday homes in Umbria for any age group

Umbria is the green heart of Italy, and together with Tuscany, it’s one of the country’s most popular holiday regions. And for a good reason, as Umbria is a great destination for anyone who loves Italy. The rolling hills in the Tiber valley form a splendid backdrop for hikers, cyclists or horse riders, and with its many picturesque towns and villages, Umbria also has a lot to offer for art and culture lovers. All of this makes a holiday home in Umbria the ideal starting point for exploring the region, and because with Micazu you book directly with the owner, you know exactly where you stand.

Vineyards, olive groves and cities filled with art and culture

The Umbrian landscape is dominated by extensive plains with numerous vineyards and olive trees. Enjoy the colours and scents and discover the beauty of this region. No fewer than seven regional parks and the Monte Sibilinni national park invite you to explore the beauty of nature. Also visit one of the picturesque villages in the area, where time appears to have stood still. You’ll fine plenty of art, culture and history in Umbria’s impressive cities, like Orvieto, Perugia and Assisi, where a visit to the world famous Basilica of St. Francis is a must. Another recommendation is Pietralunga, a beautiful hilltop town at an altitude of almost 600 metres.

  • The patron saint of Italy, the holy Francis (San Francesco), came from Umbria (Assisi).
  • Umbria produces excellent wines. The best known white wine is the Orvieto, and good quality red wines include Torgiano and Motefalco.
  • This region is named after the Umbri, a tribe that settled in the area in the 6th century BC.
