Gîte / Cottage

Our detached holiday home in France is located in a quiet location, in the hilly Bourgogne Sud, surrounded by meadows. At the end of a small country road with no traffic. Built in 1880 and originally the farmer's home, it is now a cozy and comfortable holiday home for up to 4 people. In the middle of the meadows with a wide view over the hilly landscape and the forests, you can't help but relax here. Enjoy the curious Charolais cows that trudge past every day and the deer that walk from the adjacent forest into the meadows.

Aux Petits Bonheurs
The living room is attractive with various table lamps where you can install yourself in the comfortable armchairs, by the wood stove, or on the sofa. The wood stove and plaids provide a comfortable warmth during the colder period. The bookcase contains information about the region, booklets with cycling and walking routes, reading books (Dutch, French and English) and magazines. You can watch Dutch and French TV via the smart TV. Our fiber optic internet has an excellent range, also on our terraces.

Next to the living room is a bedroom with a double bed (180×200) and a wardrobe. The thick walls and the outside shutters at the windows ensure that this room stays nice and cool in the summer. The bedroom is on the ground floor, but has a small step.

An open staircase leads to the second bedroom on the upper floor. Here are two single beds (90x200). On request, we place them next to each other or away from each other. There is also a baby cot on this floor. A baby bath is also available on request. The stairs have a children's gate at the bottom and at the top.

All beds are made on arrival.

The kitchen has everything you need to cook: a 4-burner induction hob with boost function, plenty of pans, a microwave, an oven, oven dishes and cutting boards. Also present is a combination pads/filter coffee maker and toaster. The patio doors in the kitchen make it easy for you to set the table outside on the terrace. Of course, you can also sit inside at the dining table in the kitchen. We provide a high chair on request.

The bathroom (on the ground floor) with shower, sink and toilet can be reached through the kitchen. Towels are provided for all guests.

After a day of exploring the area, it is wonderful to experience the tranquility of the countryside. Outside around the gîte are several seating areas. On the terrace next to the kitchen is a dining table with chairs and a BBQ. There are 2 sun loungers in the grass. At the end of the day, after a refreshing dip in the private pool, it is good to relax on the lounge set on the terrace behind the gîte. Here you have a wide view of the hilly landscape, the meadows, the forest, the white Charolais cows trudging by and the deer that come from the forest to graze in the meadows. If you stay seated until dusk, you can enjoy a beautiful colorful sunset. The 2 deckchairs are highly recommended to lie on to admire the beautiful starry sky on a clear night. In spring and autumn there is the possibility to make a campfire in the fire bowl.

Our gîte is also suitable for remote work. In the bedroom on the ground floor there is a table with a comfortable corner sofa. With our fiber optic internet you have an excellent range and you are always available online. Also on our terraces!

For the first day available: coffee pods, tea, toilet paper, charcoal for the barbecue.

While looking for a house with a detached gîte, we ended up in this rural village. When we arrived here for a viewing, we immediately knew that this would be our place. The gîte is sufficiently far away from the house for privacy, but close enough to help our guests if necessary. The peace and space and the hilly landscape that provides a panoramic view felt wonderful. We immediately felt like sharing this environment and the cozy house with future guests.

Additional information

Large amusement and animal park with 31 attractions and more than 1000 wild animals.
In Digoin, visit the Pont-Canal. A monumental bridge over the Loire River. This architectural masterpiece was built between 1832 and 1836 and has 11 arches. Only accessible by bike, on foot or by pleasure boat.

From the terrace of the DOCK café you have a beautiful view of this bridge. Located on the banks of the Loire, this former ceramics depot has had a second life since 2018. On the ground floor and outside on the terrace, from mid-May to mid-September, the DOCK Café welcomes locals and tourists to enjoy a drink with a view of the Pont-Canal and the Loire.

The ObservaLoire museum offers a beautiful view over the Canal du Centre which connects the Saône to the Loire. In the museum you will find information about the Loire. Along the canal, you can cycle on the Voie Verte (green cycle paths) or book a boat trip for a trip on the Canal and experience the difference in altitude as the boat rises and falls in the locks.
In the center of Moulins, there is something for everyone to discover. There are many sights such as the Notre Dame Cathedral, an Art Nouveau-Art Deco guided tour, the Anne de Beaujeu museum (including history of the Bourbon family), the National Center for Stage Costume located in a former eighteenth-century cavalry barracks and a historic district with beautiful half-timbered houses. Several shopping streets lead to the Place d'Allier, a square lined with restaurants and terraces of which Brasserie Le Grand Café is worth a visit. The Grand Café is one of the most beautiful in France. Listed in the Inventory of Historical Monuments, it has retained its decoration from 1899. Art Nouveau style, the façade of woodwork, the walls decorated with mirrors whose combined reliefs unfold the space to infinity, the clock and the barometer are beautifully preserved.
Vichy is a nice city to explore on foot. Such as walking along the Allier river, in the park, past the art deco houses and the imperial chalets where Napoleon III spent his childhood and of course the center. Take empty bottles to Vichy to fill them with the famous spring water at Source Célestin.
Cluny is a city with a rich historical past. Located in the heart of southern Burgundy. It has a pleasant atmosphere with the many small streets, restaurants and medieval atmosphere. A visit to Cluny naturally also includes a visit to Cluny Abbey.

Founded in 910 and at that time the most powerful Benedictine abbey in the West. Unfortunately, much of the abbey has been destroyed over the centuries, but the remains are worth a visit.
This town is known for its thermal baths and medieval center. Here you will find several large supermarkets, but you will not be bored in terms of tourism either.

Every year at the beginning of the holiday season, Bourbon-Lancy publishes a cultural calendar with a diverse offer. Exhibitions, music, performances, etc. The agenda is ready for you in our gîte.

Plan d'eau du Breuil is a park with a large pond that you can walk around. There are picnic tables and playground equipment for various ages.

From mid-June to mid-September, there is a free outdoor music performance every Sunday afternoon from 4:30 pm in Parc Thermal.
