In addition to the Tauplitzalm, there are several other small and medium-sized ski areas in the immediate vicinity of Bad Mitterndorf. Donnersbach, Loser, among others, are fine ski areas that are easy to drive to for a day.
A little further away but still reachable within an hour is Schladming where you can ski in the Ski Amade with endless possibilities.
