Holiday home for rent in Laas for rest seekers! Chalet Butterfly. This is the first winter season, so there are not many pictures of the house in the snow. Close to several ski areas such as Hermagor-Nassfeld and Lienz. Also Kotschach-Mauthen itself has a family Skipiste on the edge of the village.
After a few wonderful vacations in Carinthia (a subtropical climate, the sun shines for 260 days a year), we took the step of buying a piece of land and building our own house. We found this piece of land in Laas (Distance Utrecht - Laas is 1044 km).
Are you looking for a quiet place with the forest within walking distance, where you can also walk with your dog, then you are well here.
Our house was delivered in January 2017. It can accommodate six people and you can bring your dogs, but no more than 2 per booking.
It is located on the south slope of the Alps with the sun terrace and is equipped with all the conveniences.
You have (permanently) view of the Carnic Alps, which are in line with the Italian Dolomites.
Last is a small community with about 250 inhabitants in the municipality of Kötschach-Mauthen.
Kötschach is 5 minutes away. In the cozy village center of Kötschach you will find all the daily necessities, such as the fresh bread bakery, supermarkets, restaurants and banks. Furthermore, a museum, pharmacy, subtropical swimming paradise, the tourist office, various shops and doctors.
In the summer you can enjoy the terrace with a bite (BBQ) and a drink, healthy air and in winter, after storing the skis or snowmobile shoes in the storage room, from the nice wood stove.
In the spring and autumn you can enjoy the nice climate and make beautiful walks (see pictures). From the end of April it is already good to be out of bed.
Family ski area (ideal for beginners) is located in Kötschach only 10 minutes by car. One of Austria's largest and snow-proof ski arenas is Nassfeld with 110 km of pistes which you reach in 20 minutes with the free ski bus from the center of Kötschach. The Weissensee, famous for the alternatives of Elfstedentocht, but of course you can make beautiful skating rides, can be reached in about 45 minutes by car. Cross-country trails and winter hiking (and Nordic) routes are also in the immediate vicinity.
The soft and sunny Mediterranean climate is ideal for beautiful walks in the mountains. You can cycle along the Gail River over 90 km of cycle track or by bike and mountain bike via the mountain bike trails in the Gail Valley 800 km. Tennis courts, subtropical swimming pool Aquarena with 2 large outdoor pools and sunbathing area, indoor pool with slide, sun loungers, sauna and restaurant 15 minutes away from the chalet. Nature bath in Mauthen (approx. 10 minutes by car) Pressiger See, beautiful lake with sunbathing area about 30 minutes drive towards Hermagor. The beach in Italy (Grado) via the Plockenpass in about 1¾ hours drive.
In Kötschach is an outdoor center where you can register daily for canyoning, rafting, mountain biking, mountain climbing, etc. Rent bikes next to the Opel garage (obliquely opposite the Hagenbau construction site) or at Camping Alpencamp. In addition, there are plenty of possibilities, such as lakes for swimming and (fly) fishing, forest and mountain walks, Nordic Walking, horse riding and golf and paragliding.
In our house you will find various tourist tips, routes and leaflets. The house must not be smoked.
We are Joost and Mariëtte and fell as a block in 2013 for this region. Now we have realized our dream and built a detached chalet on a piece of land. We bought a second property for our house to secure the view. Relax and enjoy the beautiful nature.

The living room is combined with an open kitchen. It is fully equipped including a dishwasher, oven, ceramic hob and fridge freezer. The living room has a wood stove.

Wij vonden het voor ons gezin een fantastisch huis. We hebben een top vakantie gehad. Voor gezinnen met jonge kinderen is een traphekje wenselijk. Door de dakramen met dunne gordijnen boven het bed kan je geweldig genieten van de prachtige sterrenhemel, alleen is het hierdoor ook vroeg licht in de grote slaapkamers. Ligging en omgeving is top. Met hond en gezin liepen we binnen 5 minuten in het bos. Ook zijn de mogelijkheden voor grote wandelingen zijn zeer ruim aanwezig. Het dorp is heerlijk rustig en veilig. Voor boodschappen ben je met 5 minuten bij meerdere winkels in het nabijgelegen Kötschach-Mauthen. Wat ons betreft zeker een aanrader!!
