Holiday rental in Laas for peace seekers! Chalet Butterfly. This is the first winter season, therefore there are not many pictures of the house in the snow. In the vicinity of several ski areas such as Hermagor-Nassfeld and Lienz. Kotschach-Mauthen itself also has a family ski slope on the outskirts of the village.
After a few wonderful holidays in Carinthia (a subtropical climate, which makes the sun shine about 260 days a year) we have taken the step to buy a piece of land and have our own house built. This piece of land we found in Laas (Distance Utrecht - Laas is 1044 km).
Are you looking for a quiet place with the forest within walking distance, where you can also walk with your dog, then you're fine here.
Our house was completed in January 2017. It is suitable for six people and you can bring your dogs, but no more than 2 per booking.
It is located on the southern slope of the Alps with the terrace on the sun side and is equipped with all comforts.
You have (permanently free) view of the Carnic Alps, which lie in the extension of the Italian Dolomites.
Laas is a small community with about 250 inhabitants in the municipality of Kötschach-Mauthen.
Kötschach is 5 minutes away. In the cozy village center of Kötschach you will find all the daily necessities, such as the bakery for fresh bread, supermarkets, restaurants and banks. Furthermore, a museum, a pharmacy, subtropical swimming paradise, the tourist office, various shops and doctors.
In the summer you can enjoy on the terrace, with a snack (BBQ) and a drink, from the healthy air and in winter, after you have stored the skis or snow shoes in the storage room, from the fine wood stove inside.
In the spring and autumn you can enjoy the nice climate and make beautiful walks (see photos). From the end of April it is already fine weather to be busy outside.
Family ski area (ideal for beginners) is located in Kötschach only 10 minutes by car. One of the largest and snow-sure ski arenas in Austria is Nassfeld with 110 km of groomed slopes which can be reached in 20 minutes with the free ski bus from the center of Kötschach. The Weissensee, known for its alternative Elfstedentocht, but where you can also make beautiful skating trips, you reach in about 45 minutes by car. Cross-country trails and winter hiking (and Nordic) routes are also in the immediate vicinity.
The mild and sunny Mediterranean climate is ideal for beautiful walks in the mountains. You can cycle along the River Gail over 90 km long bike path or with the road bike and mountain bike through the mountain bike trails signposted in the Gailtal 800 km. Tennis courts, subtropical swimming pool Aquarena with 2 large outdoor pools and sunbathing area, indoor pool with slide, sun loungers, sauna and restaurant 15 minutes from the chalet. Natural bath in Mauthen (approx. 10 minutes by car) Pressiger See, beautiful lake with sunbathing area approx. 30 minutes drive towards Hermagor. The beach in Italy (Grado) via the Plockenpass at about 1 ¾ hour drive.
In Kötschach there is an outdoor center where you can register daily for canyoning, rafting, mountain biking, mountaineering, etc. Rent a bike next to the Opel garage (diagonally opposite the Hagenbau building market) or at Camping Alpencamp. Furthermore, there are plenty of opportunities in the immediate vicinity, such as lakes for swimming and (fly-) fishing, forest and mountain hikes, Nordic walking, horse riding and golf and paragliding.
In our house you will find various tourist tips, routes and folders. You can not smoke in the house.
We are Joost and Mariëtte and in 2013 we fell in love with this region. Now we have realized our dream and have built a detached chalet on a piece of land. We have bought a second plot for our house to secure the view. Fully rest and especially enjoy the beautiful nature.

The living room is combined with an open kitchen. It is fully equipped including a dishwasher, oven, ceramic hob and fridge freezer. The living room has a wood stove.
De badkamer is voorzien van een hangend toilet, 2 wastafels en een inloopdouche van 120x90 cm.
In this room is the washing machine and can be used for skis, etc. This space is accessible from the outside and heating.

Wij vonden het voor ons gezin een fantastisch huis. We hebben een top vakantie gehad. Voor gezinnen met jonge kinderen is een traphekje wenselijk. Door de dakramen met dunne gordijnen boven het bed kan je geweldig genieten van de prachtige sterrenhemel, alleen is het hierdoor ook vroeg licht in de grote slaapkamers. Ligging en omgeving is top. Met hond en gezin liepen we binnen 5 minuten in het bos. Ook zijn de mogelijkheden voor grote wandelingen zijn zeer ruim aanwezig. Het dorp is heerlijk rustig en veilig. Voor boodschappen ben je met 5 minuten bij meerdere winkels in het nabijgelegen Kötschach-Mauthen. Wat ons betreft zeker een aanrader!!
