Holiday homes in Lissendorf

Lissendorf is located in the middle of the beautiful nature of the southern Eifel. Like Manderscheid and Bad Bertrich, Lissendorf is located in an old volcanic area. Thanks to the many natural hot springs, this region is known for its large number of spas and healing thermal baths. Lissendorf is slightly less popular as a holiday destination but it is very central to the main attractions in the Eifel. A city trip to Cologne, for example, is made easy with the Eifel Express. Trier and Koblenz are also easy to reach by train or car. Other recommendations are the famous castles of Manderscheid and the half-timbered houses of Bad Münstereifel and Kronenburg.

The land of lakes and maars

The surroundings of Lissendorf are rich in culture and history, but most visitors come here to enjoy nature. The small town is located on the river Kyll, where you will find excellent locations for sport fishing. Numerous routes have been mapped out for walking, cycling and mountain biking in the vast forests. Thanks to a wide choice of bridleways, the area is also very popular with horseriding enthusiasts. Discover the most beautiful routes and be amazed by the stunning flora and fauna. Many volcanoes used to be active in this special landscape. The old volcanic craters can still be seen as crater lakes, which are also called "maars".

The benefits of making a booking through Micazu

Interesting facts about Lissendorf

  • The Kyll is a tributary of the Moselle, and at 142 kilometres it is the longest stream in the Eifel area. The name Kyll comes from the Celtic word for ‘brook’: gilum. In the Middle Ages it was called ‘Kila’.
  • Tip for a walk with the kids: the educational Vulkangarten Steffeln park near the town of Steffeln. Here you can learn everything about the volcanic area of the Eifel.
  • The total hiking trail network of the Eifel covers almost 2000 kilometres.
  • A traditional local dish is ‘Backesgrompere’: pan-fried potatoes with bacon, sausage slices and cream.
