This is the frontyard of the Maison Lavande. Here the sun rises. The street is usually very quiet - not many cars drive past. Your child can play safely here and you can enjoy your coffee in the morning sun.
Our house is on a slope that leads to the pine forest. In the backyard you feel like in a protected valley surrounded only by trees and sky.
In the cozy seating area, with a sofa and armchairs around the coffee table, you can snuggle up to watch movies together. Or you can wonder for hours about the eternal play of fire and flames that takes place in the fireplace - even better than watching tv!
The whole family can dine together at the large kitchen table. It stays cozy here, even if it is too fresh to sit outside.

This kitchen feels like home - small and cozy, but with everything you need. At one point or another between cooking, you look out of the window into the forest and remember where you are - and how beautiful it is, here.

The terrace! It is always warm and calm here, no matter how strong the wind is blowing. Here you can sunbathe, read or relax on one of the sun loungers. At a large dining table, which is located here, you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner in a cozy and atmospheric way.
Have you just missed the sun on the terrace below or aren't you finished with enjoying the sun? No problem - you simply move to the terrace on the second floor! Here you can also enjoy the beautiful view and the forest!

From here you gaze upon the horizon of pine trees in green against a clear blue sky. When the night returns, pine trees turn into black silhouettes and the sky becomes a painting of light in all shades of pink, gold and blue.

Yes! It looks so picturesque and beautiful here, in fact. No fake, no Photoshop. There are reasons why we have stayed true to this charming place for almost 30 years.
Do you sometimes think about living the life of a surfing hippie traveling from beach to beach in his bus? Perhaps, apart from all its clichés, this dream is not as far away as it sounds ...
... La Tranche sur Mer offers the perfect waves to actually learn to surf! A real surf boom has broken out here in recent years. Schools offer material and lessons. If the waves get too big for beginners, the talented pros can be admired!
Many of our guests started learning to surf here. For some of them this was even just the beginning, followed by many years of fun, surf instructor trainings and journeys to bigger waves. The surf instructors who teach here really know what they're doing!
This is it: Our absolute favorite beach bar La Case d'Elo! Don't ask us how many incredibly funny, cozy, mild summer evenings we enjoyed here! Good wine, good music, good people. And a sunset that is more than good, but breathtaking!

A typical scene while you are lying on the beach and gazing into the bright blue sky: cute planes that buzz along the beach to draw attention to sights or to announce events such as one of the many fireworks.
Dine like the gods in France! Fruit de la Mer ... As delicious as that you won't get them elsewhere so quickly. Simply a delight and that at affordable prices. The offer of the local supermarket will amaze you!
When you stand in front of the fresh fish counter in the La Tranche supermarket, you are spoiled for choice. It's easy to get decision problems here. Take your children with you on shopping and let them marvel at the various shimmering fish up close.

Enjoy the evening sun on the terrace!
The pool is lowered, so there is less wind when swimming. Furthermore, there is a lot of privacy and little view through the mature garden.
Next to the pool is a small terrace, also lowered, so little wind!
Our breakfast terrace is always in the sun, if necessary there is an extra parasol for this terrace!

The pool lighting creates an intimate atmosphere in the evening.
Next to the beautiful garden with a protective hedge is a jeu de boules court, with good boules in the cupboard in the room.

Plenty of colour in the garden thanks to the Cotinus purpurea (the wig tree).
The palms on the terrace were raised from seeds from the south of France, once brought from a campsite! The shed to the left of the house has been enlarged to accommodate the 4 bicycles.

Coffee at Plage Tanchet, there are a number of beach bars where you can have lunch, dinner, but also just have a drink.

The boulevard is 5 km from our house and by bike it is 20-25 minutes! Never a parking problem with our bikes!

Somewhere to eat in the old port of Les Sables.
The ferry between La Chaume and the center goes back and forth until midnight. Bicycles are also allowed (if it is not too busy).
The beach is almost empty when we cycle home via the boulevard after having gone out for dinner.
In July and August there are often performances on the boulevard in the evening by bands, clowns, theater. Boulevard is closed to all traffic from 20 to 24 hours.

Hitting a ball at Golf Port de Bourgenay with the murmur of the ocean a few meters behind you, not bad.
Packed boulevard filled with people who want to watch the spectacular fireworks display on the occasion of Quatorze Juillet just after sunset. In the video clip on the right you can see this spectacle, filmed from the wide beach!

Even on a chilly day, the wide beach of les Sables d'Olonne is very busy.
From the air you can see how beautifully the nearby golf course of Port de Bourgenay is located, directly on the Atlantic Ocean.
A visit to the very nearby zoo of les Sables d'Olonne is definitely worth it.
At the golf course of Olonne sur Mer in November, beautiful weather! A stay in the autumn, more than worth it.
