Holiday homes in Comares
Comares is located in the beautiful region of Axarquia, inland from the
Costa del Sol. The town is built on a rocky plateau, the plateau of Mazmullar, and boasts a breathtakingly beautiful view of the surroundings. A holiday home in this stunning region is an ideal choice if you’re looking to relax. Comares is one of the characteristic "white villages" that are so typical for
Andalusia, and the whitewashed houses with coloured window frames and ornate chimneys are all worth a picture. This is authentic
Spain, where time sometimes seems to have stood still. In July and August, it can be quite hot, but in spring and autumn the temperatures are usually very pleasant. With a holiday home in Comares, you’ll also have the best of both worlds, being just 45 minutes away from the beaches on the
Costa del Sol!
Comares rich history
Comares has a
rich history, which is mainly dominated by the Moors. If you take a walk through the old centre, you can still clearly see these Morish influences. The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación (Church of Our Lady of the Incarnation), a beautiful 16th-century church, is from a later era. Another sight is La Tahona, the only remaining tower of the castle that used to be here. Because of its central location, Comares is also an excellent base for exploring the area. For example, you could visit one of the many caves in the district, such as La Cueva del Tesoro or Las Cuevas de Nerja. Or
rent a car and go to one of the other lovely places in the region, like
Frigiliana and
Canillas de Aceituno. You could also drive to the coast and enjoy a wonderful day full of sun, sea and sand. When you rent a holiday home in Comares, you can do whatever you like.
