In the Foret de Vauclair is the medieval abbey cloister.
Very cathedral-rich environment. The gothishe cathedral of Laon was inspiration for the Notre Dame Cathedral.
Day trip to Paris? Les Deux Pins is within 75 minutes by train from Laon or Soissons.
Abbeye the Longpont, the monastery behind these ruins can be visited by appointment
Walking through the Hameau de Beaulne
Reims, the capital of Champagne with its World Heritage Cathedral is just over 30 minutes away.
Hiking on the Roman sunken roads in the forest of Vailly-sur-Aisne 12 km away. Most of the sunken roads have been created since the time of Charlemagne, when the plateaus and slopes were cleared for agriculture. To reach the fields, the farmers looked for the most logical way up.
Climbing, clambering and hanging in the Parc Canopé towards Soissons, information is in the info folder in the house.
Chateau de Pierrefonds. A fairytale castle that children love. An hour's drive from LDP.

One of the militarie cemeteries at Verdun, where during the First World War a years-long battle took place. From a horrible beauty and raked cleanliness. Taken from the Ossuaire, a monument where countless remains of unknown soldiers have their final resting place.
One of the many medieval half-timbered churches that the region is rich in. This is the church of Puellemontier, about 2 kilometers away from your house.
The ruin of the Abbey of Trois Fontaines. Founded around 1130 by the Cistercian monk / abbot Bernard. He would now be compared to Mandela. They have mined large parts of North-East France. The abbey was destroyed during the French revolution.

Dogs are very popular in France and welcome almost everywhere. Even in the Wine Museum in Sancerre. Highly recommended if you want to know more about the terroir of Sancerre wines.
This site still belongs to the house, at the end a beautiful hiking trail begins.
Along the site is a large field, the cultivation of grain is alternated with rapeseed.
As beautiful as the winter can be; in the early morning sun the mist disappears from the adjacent field.

This tree is always a landmark when you walk in the area. It stands at an altitude of 330 meters and is approximately one kilometer from the holiday home.
