Our gite is located in the rustic Sermentray, part of the municipality of Montapas, in the Burgundy region.
In the winter of 2023, the whole will be attractively and sustainably refurbished and equipped with many conveniences.

It has a spacious, bright kitchen, with dishwasher, oven, microwave and a fridge/freezer. Cooking is possible on a 4-burner stove with plenty of different pans. There is also a possibility to make coffee and tea by means of a percorator and kettle. And of course there is a wide range of kitchen utensils, crockery and glasses.
Basic cleaning supplies, a set of wipes, towels and tea towels are provided.

The cozy living room with double sofa and wood stove offers a wonderful place to retreat with a book, which can be borrowed in the gîte in several genres. You can also find leaflets in Dutch about the area and there is a small selection of (board) games.

The bathroom has a luxurious walk-in shower, a spacious place where you can store all your toiletries, a large mirror and a sink. The toilet is located in a separate room.
There is a bedroom with two single beds and a bedroom with a double bed. Both rooms have shutters and curtains for both blinds and also to get the rooms completely dark for the night.

Furthermore, the gite has a lovely enclosed garden with sun-drenched terrace on the southwest and a view of the quiet valley.

Smoking is not allowed in the gite.
Within walking distance (about 1 km) is a lovely swimming lake, with summer supervision for the little ones and a catering facility.
There are 2 bicycles in the shed that can be used free of charge. Bicycles you have brought with you can be parked in a locked shed. A bike ride along the Canal de Nivernais is highly recommended.
From the gite it is also possible to start a walk or mountain bike trail; It is located on the edge of the forest.

In my early childhood, I already fell in love with France when we regularly went camping in the Dordogne with my parents. When I was 21 years old, I went to work for a year in Ariége, on a cheese farm. Over the years I came back often, to the Drôme, Provence and the Pyrenees.
In 2018 I met my current partner Edwin who, like me, cherished the love for this country. We made the exciting leap together on 1-1-2022 to live and work here permanently.

Explanation of the prices & cancellation policy

If the tenant wishes to cancel the booking for whatever reason, the tenant must always confirm this to the landlord by e-mail (even if, for example, this has already been communicated to the landlord by telephone). Landlord will charge the following amounts, depending on the date of written cancellation by the tenant:

Cancellation more than 3 months before the start of the rental period: free of charge
Cancellation between the 90th and the 60th day before the start of the rental period: 25% of the rental price
Cancellation between the 59th and the 30th day before the start of the rental period: 50% of the rental price
Cancellation less than 30 days before the start of the rental period: 100% of the rental price

If the tenant only announces on the start date or during the rental period that he will no longer use the rented property, he will continue to owe the full rent.

From the gite, located on the edge of a forest, you can walk and cycle, for example along the Canal de Nivernais and its locks.
Within walking distance is a lovely swimming lake where there is supervision in the high season and a simple catering facility.
At Etang de Baye you can also swim, rent a boat, kayak or sup.
The Morvan has many beautiful lakes, forests, rivers and is an excellent place for nature lovers.
In the area you can visit markets, flea markets or vide-greniers every weekend.
Fancy a day trip to a medium-sized city? In Nevers, located on the Loire, the cathedral is worth a visit with its surprising
stained glass windows. Other towns on the Loire are also worth a day visit, such as Charité sur Loire or Pouilly sur Loire, known for its excellent wines!
In Lormes, you can immerse yourself in the art during your summers and enjoy live music on a weekly basis. Also worth mentioning is the art route (open studios) in August.
In short: There is plenty to see and do in the Burgundy region!
