In 'Le Chat Noir' you will find a holiday home in the middle of the peace and space of the Morvan. The gite is located next to our house in the small hamlet of Savelot, near Ouroux-en-Morvan, and has been open since April 2022. It is an excellent base for walks or bike rides through the green hills, for water sports in the great lakes, or to explore the cultural and culinary delights of the Morvan. Furthermore, otters, badgers, hedgehogs and many more animals live in and around our village, so there are many animal tracks to look for. Moreover, the Morvan is one of the darkest areas in Europe and the starry sky here is spectacular.

"Le Chat Noir" has a number of terraces around the house so that you can always sit in the sun or shade and relax. A carport for the car and a lockable garage for any sturdy bicycles are useful in bad weather.

The cozy living room has a hammock chair and game table, a stove with two benches in front. There are three bedrooms; a double bedroom, a children's bedroom (1 single bed and a bed that can be extended into a double bed) or an extra guest room (sofa bed for 2 people). A maximum of six people can stay, but the house is cozy enough for the two of you to get away from it all.

The kitchen is fully equipped; oven and ceramic hobs, dishwasher, freezer and refrigerator, coffee makers and all the kitchen utensils to prepare a nice meal. Depending on the season, fresh eggs and vegetables from the neighboring garden are for sale.

In the bathroom, next to a sink, there is a shower and a lazy bath to lie in without worry; the water is heated by the sun. There is a small WC downstairs and a separate WC on the first floor. There is an indoor gym with a treadmill, a cross trainer, an exercise bike and a rowing machine, so that you can work on your fitness with a view of the garden, at your own pace. (There is also an ironing board with iron, but it is not suitable for sports purposes).

In high season we rent the gite from Saturday to Saturday, for 500 euros per week plus 50 euros cleaning fee per booking. Outside the high season, the price is 400 euros per week, and can also be booked for periods other than a week in consultation. For long-term bookings you can always contact us.

We settled in the Morvan in 2016 to lead a simpler life. Life in the Morvan is a natural continuation of our love for (walking in) nature. Our scientific background comes in handy when growing our own vegetables. The chickens help transform the vegetable waste into tasty eggs. We ourselves try to transform basic raw materials such as flour and milk and beans into delicious bread, yogurt and tempeh.

Explanation of the prices & cancellation policy

The rent in the high season (which is all Dutch school holidays) is 600 euros per week (Saturday to Saturday) In the low season the rent is 540 euros per week. In the low season, a shorter period (from 3 nights) can also be booked, or a period that does not start or end on a Saturday. All this in consultation and if available. In the winter period (Nov to March) you may be eligible for an extra discount for longer bookings, please contact us.

Cancellation by the tenant.
Any cancellation must be notified to the landlord in writing or by email.
The landlord will charge the following amounts, depending on the date of cancellation by the tenant:

Cancellation more than 43 days before the start of the rental period: 25% of the rental (the deposit).
Cancellation from 29 to 42 days before the start of the rental period: 35% of the rental.
Cancellation from 22 to 28 days before the start of the rental period: 40% of the rental.
Cancellation from 15 to 21 days before the start of the rental period: 50% of the rental.
Cancellation from 8 to 14 days before the start of the rental period: 75% of the rental.
Cancellation of 7 days before the start of the rental period: 90% of the rental.
Cancellation on the day of arrival: The total rental price.

To be clear: Any deposit and tourist tax transferred will be refunded in full in the event of cancellation.

If the tenant does not use the holiday home or leaves it before the end of the rental period, no refund will be made.

We recommend that you take out travel and cancellation insurance.
