Interesting facts about Empuriabrava

• Empuriabrava (Ampuriabrava in Spanish) is actually part of the municipality of Castelló d’Empúreis. It was created in the last century by the draining of marshes.
• In 1967, part of the municipality was converted into a holiday village. That part of Castelló de Empúreis was then called Empuriabrava.
• Empuriabrava has its own airport which is also used for skydiving.
• The local cuisine often combines sea products with ingredient from the mountains, and this is known as ‘mar i muntanya’ cuisine. Examples include chicken with langoustines and stockfish with pigeon and potato.
