Since 2004 we have a house on the Costa Blanca that we rent out in July and August. We bought this house, we call it "Casa Alicante", after our working life. We have found a beautiful location for this in the Hondón Valley. A beautiful house with a swimming pool and a beautiful landscaped garden with palm trees, oleanders, roses, cacti, etc.. On a plot of 476 m2, we have built a typical Spanish house of 125 m2 with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Spain has a range of local festivities outside of public holidays. Every place has its own specific festivities. A huge amount of advertising is being made for these festivities. It is good to know where and when these festivities are held in connection with store closures, extra crowds, etc. Below is a small list of festivities in the vicinity of the Montañosa urbanization. January 5, the Holy Epiphany ride on horseback, in a equestrian procession, in Spanish it is "CABALGATAS", through the cities. In February, on the last Friday before Lent, the carnival processions begin, in Spanish it is "CARNESTOLTES". Especially special in Alicante. In March / April on Palm Sunday there is a beautiful procession in Elche with a lot of plaiting of palm leaves. (It is not for nothing that Elche has around 300,000 palm trees.) On White Thursday there are processions in Elche and Alicante. From 21 to 24 April in Alcoy the famous Fiestas de Moros y Cristianos. Also in various other villages and towns this party is held on different dates during the summer months. May trees are decorated in Alicante on May 1. On May 15 in Hondón de las Nieves the Fiestas are the San Isidoro Labrador, in honor of the patron saint of the farmers. In June the summer night fires are lit on the 24th, which are huge wood and paper structures, especially in Alicante. In July there are ship trials in honor of the patron saint of fishermen, including in Santa Pola and Torrevieja. Elche celebrates its Fiesta Mayor in the first two weeks of August. The closing with Misteri d'Elx is on 15 August (Maria Ascension).
