- What is Casa Carpe Diem?
From the house you can walk along the beach Tres Irmaos in 20 minutes to Alvor (less than 10 minutes by car). Alvor has hardly any high-rise buildings, has a pleasant center with many restaurants; a small harbor where fish is cleaned in the morning for the restaurants. You can make beautiful walks in the area to, for example, Praia do Veau, a trip over the rocks. At low tide you walk on the beach along all the rocks, you will find small pools of water with fish and crabs. On the beach you will find delicious restaurants where you can eat in a relaxed way, while the children can play on the beach in sight. The atmosphere is friendly and still very common for tourists. At the end of the day, there is often a nice cooling breeze and that always makes a visit to the beach a party.
At the resort there is a shop, an Italian restaurant and two more fine restaurants (one at the central pool in the rocks and next to it Canico; a restaurant that you reach with a small elevator through the rocks and has a beautiful view of the sea). Various trips possible to the famous Monchique with the springs for eternal youth, Zoo Marine with the dolphin show, Lagos with a visit to the beautiful rocks by boat or a walk through the ancient center. For golf enthusiasts, there are several golf courses within a distance of 5 km. The daredevils can still go to a highly professional go-kart track near Lagos, 15 km from the Resort.
So what makes Casa Carpe Diem so special?
For the owners it is the most special place (we have been coming there since 1992!) and most beautiful place on the Algarve; serene tranquility; a very comfortable and modern house without frills; well maintained with all the amenities needed for a wonderful holiday; Beautiful saltwater swimming pool at the house (20 square meters) and all possibilities in the area with a very spacious sandy beach to enjoy. A place to love.
The house is managed by Pena Property in Lagos during the season. If you have any questions regarding your reservation, please send an email in English to Pena Property. The hostess hands over the key and is the point of contact for the guests. She also takes care of the cleaning and maintenance. On arrival there is clean bed linen and a set of towels for each guest. If you stay longer than a week, the house will be cleaned again, the beds will be changed and there will be a clean towel set.
Extra cleaning and/or bed linen/towels are available on request at an additional cost.
A deposit of 50 euros must be paid for the house key. An extra house key is available on request.
In 2021, a 2G and 5G network was installed in Casa Carpe Diem. This makes it possible to use fast Wi-Fi. The costs are €50 per week.
During the season there is a supermarket open at Prainha park where delicious fresh bread rolls are baked every day. All the basic necessities are available there. However, a 10-minute drive away, there is a large supermarket in Alvor, Pingo Doche and also an Intermarché. Fresh bread, vegetables/fruit, meat and fish are also available in this supermarket. In addition, there is an extensive range of soft drinks, dairy products, wine, cleaning products.
A 15-minute drive away in Portimao is an extensive range of supermarkets including Lidle, Continente and Pingo Doche.
A large, partly covered, Aqua Mar shopping center is a 20-minute drive away in Portimao. An extensive range of clothing and shoe stores, opticians, supermarkets, home furnishing stores, jewelers. Enough to see for an extensive shopping. A spacious parking garage (free) is located under the shopping center.
