Het Dijkje is a unique and sustainable place in the middle of greenery, where you can completely relax and where you are in the heart of Utrecht within 12 (cycling) minutes. You can also use bicycles for free at "het Dijkje Utrecht". The 2 houses have a private entrance with terrace, are fully equipped and have a magnificent view of the fruit trees. The cottages are inspired by the adjacent Castellum, a beautiful contemporary reconstruction of a Roman fortress full of archaeological treasures. Moreover, the Dijkje is located right on the Limes route (Roman border), which has recently been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Het Dijkje is completely energy neutral. There are 20 solar panels on the roof that provide the entire electricity for the dike, such as the air conditioner, dishwasher, refrigerator and induction plate. There is a first floor with a comfortable 2-person box-spring bed.

We are Joris and Carola van Dijk. In 2020 we were given the opportunity to take over our current home. The villa was in urgent need of renovation, after 10 years of vacancy and anti-squat, there was a lot of overdue maintenance. With the help of professionals, we did the entire renovation ourselves. Joris is very handy and has worked every day with a lot of love and energy on the renovation of the holiday homes. The houses are completely sustainable due to heat pump and solar panels

Next to the Dijkje is Castellum Hoge Woerd , a remarkably contemporary reconstruction of a Roman fortress . In the fortress there is a free museum with, among other things, a 2000 year old Roman ship with complete inventory. Besides the archaeological museum, the theater, the city farm and cafe-restaurant are located within the walls of the fortress.
