If you're looking for an off-grid experience with modern amenities, this is the perfect place for you! Our vacation rental is powered entirely by solar and wind energy, allowing you to enjoy all the comfortable amenities while being in complete harmony with nature. The sounds of the birds and the murmur of the water are the only sounds you will hear during your stay.

This nature house is located in one of the most beautiful places in the Vechtdal in Overijssel, on the De Groote Scheere estate. The moment you arrive, your holiday feeling already starts. You drive along a forest path to this holiday home, which is located in a yard surrounded by water on three sides. Very special is that the yard has no connections to electricity, water, gas or sewer. All energy used comes from natural sources such as the sun, wind and rainwater.

This unique cottage is located on the property of the homeowner (approx. 5000m2), on a cul-de-sac. The spacious residence (70m2) has everything for a relaxing holiday and is very suitable for people who love nature and tranquility. The roe deer, pheasants and hares will show up regularly and if you are lucky a squirrel or a spotted woodpecker. There are also many songbirds, birds of prey and various species of waterfowl to admire. In summer, you can enjoy our fruit trees and shrubs.

Despite the fact that the owner's house is located across the square, you have plenty of privacy. There is a terrace on both sides of your accommodation (one of which is covered), so you can sit in the sun or shade as you wish. The house has its own lawn and you can use the spacious swimming pool of 7 meters in diameter in the summer (depending on the weather). Our friendly Shepherd/Labrador Awgust guards our yard and only runs loose when we are around. We love to share our beautiful place with our guests!

Explanation of the prices & cancellation policy

If the renter wishes to cancel the booking for any reason, the renter must always confirm this by e-mail to the landlord (even if this has already been communicated to the landlord by telephone, for example). The landlord will charge the following amounts, depending on the date of written cancellation by the tenant:

cancellation more than 3 months before the start of the rental period: free of charge
Cancellation between the 90th and the 60th day before the start of the rental period: 25% of the rental price
Cancellation between the 59th and the 30th day before the start of the rental period: 50% of the rental price
cancellation less than 30 days before the start of the rental period: 100% of the rental price

If the tenant only announces on the start date or during the rental period that he will not make any use of the leased property, he will continue to owe the full rent.

Location & area recommendations

Additional information

Nature lovers will be amazed by the diverse landscape in the Vechtdal. Large sand drifts alternate with dark forests, beautiful heathlands, juicy meadows with grazing cows and the most beautiful wild flowers. And of course the beautiful river Vecht in between. The Pieterpad runs nearby. The nature house is also located directly on a cycling junction route, so you can determine your own route. Hardenberg (with a recreational lake) is approximately 10 km away, you can cross the German border within 10 km, and Wildlands Adventure Zoo in Emmen is 15 km away. There are also many cycling and walking options in the immediate area.
There are various walking routes on the estate itself. You will also find the well-known pancake restaurant De Ganzenhoeve here, where people from the surrounding area come.
If you like history, you've come to the right place, because the estate is the place where the Battle of Ane was fought. This was a battle in 1227 between a knightly army of the Bishop of Utrecht, Otto van Lippe, and the troops of Viscount of Coevorden, Rudolf II van Coevorden. The latter was supported by Drenthe farmers. The Drenthes managed to defeat the bishop's army, and the bishop himself was killed. You will find a lot of information about this in the museum in Gramsbergen.
The nearest shopping city is Coevorden (5 minutes by car), for your daily shopping, but also with a pleasant center. Hardenberg is about a 15-minute drive away. Many activities are organized in both cities in the summer.
