Can you picture it? Would you like a delicious breakfast at the large table with 6 chairs? View of the garden with the birds? Guests have seen a squirrel (December 2019) but I myself have not yet. I know they are there so come and see for yourself!

All kinds of birds in the garden. This young great spotted woodpecker also found the garden in May 2020.
Nice relax chairs on the terrace next to the patio door. You can walk straight into the garden from the room.

Nice living room with patio doors to the garden and a large table of 2.20 m with 6 chairs. Great to play a game!
Nice cooking in the kitchen. We have good pans in all shapes and sizes and even a steam pan. You can cook on an electric hob. Furthermore, the basic things are available such as salt and pepper, spices, kitchen rolls etc. Kitchen linen is also ready for you.

This photo shows a piece of the front garden (May 2020). In the summer the Hydrangeas bloom beautifully! In the spring the large Rhododendron. This is how it is beautiful every season.

Large table to play games at!
The smaller bedroom on the ground floor has a comfortable box spring. The beds are of course made when you come! There is also a wardrobe in the downstairs bedroom.
A cot (Bopita) can be placed in the large bedroom, but this can also be placed in the smaller room upstairs. There is a large comfortable box spring and a cozy seat. In the photo the bed is made up as 2 single beds. A 3rd bed can be added on request

The bathroom was installed at the end of October 2019. There is a nice bathtub with a separate shower area with rain shower and hand shower. Of course also a large radiator so that it is comfortably warm. There is a separate toilet, so handy with more family members in the house!

Kootwijk is a lovely village in the middle of the forests of Gelderland. The village is located on the western flank of the Hoge Veluwe National Park, close to other well-known holiday destinations such as Garderen and Harderwijk. South of Kootwijk is the unique Kootwijkerzand nature reserve. With an area of 700 hectares, this is the largest active sand drift in Western Europe. The rolling hills of this enormous open area are wonderful for walking. Keep your eyes wide open and look for the tracks of red deer and wild boars that live here in the wild. In the middle of the emptiness of the Kootwijkerzand lies a special sight: the former Radio Kootwijk broadcasting station, which was built in the 1920s for radio telegraphic contact with the former Dutch East Indies.

  • The name Kootwijk is a combination of ‘koot’ or ‘kaat’ (house or small farm) and ‘district’ (place of residence).
  • Kootwijk was written in different ways over the centuries, such as Coetwijc, Kaetwick, Kaitwijck, Caetwyck, Koitwyck and Koetwyk.
  • On August 23, 1950, Kootwijk was severely hit by a tornado, one of the worst storms the Netherlands has ever known.
  • Kootwijk is located on the European E11 walking route, known there as the Marskramerpad.
  • The beautiful building of the former Radio Kootwijk broadcasting station was designed by government architect Julius Luthmann. In 1920 he was commissioned to build a hall for the enormous dynamo of the transmitting equipment.
