Fresh trout is available at the Smallert nursery, and a visit to the impressive Cannenburgh Castle in Vaassen is definitely worth it.
The village centre of Emst is only 3 kilometres away and offers a supermarket and the Reformed Church. For water fun, head to the Recreatieplas Kievitsveld (about 41/2 kilometres), where you can swim and waterski, or to the Zanderplas near Nunspeet. On Tuesdays there is always a fishmonger at the Spar in Emst, where you can buy delicious fish. You will also find a post office and ATM facilities at the Spar.
