The chalet is located on the edge of the Het Loo nature park. It is a forest and heathland area with squirrels, deer and wild boars and now also a badger.
There are also many cycling and walking options.
Walking through the forest towards Gortel is a wonderful ice cream shop, Rozeboom.
The chalet is within walking distance of Camping De Wildhoeve. There is a brasserie and a snack bar/eatery here and a camp shop in high season.
The village center of Emst with a Spar Supermarket with post office and debit card option.
On Tuesdays there is a wonderful fishmonger at the Spar.
