Ideal starting point for walking and cycling through the beautiful wooded area and along the Slotermeer. Many safe cycle paths are available nearby or depart directly from the holiday park. Furthermore, plenty of opportunities for water sports or golf on the beautiful natural golf course in the middle of the woods. Fishing from the private jetty is also possible. Upon arrival you will find a well-stocked basket with firewood. With luxuriously equipped kitchen, whirlpool, movies, Wifi, board games such as 'The smartest person', fireplace and Z-terrace. And in the house all kinds of information about walking, cycling and sailing routes, restaurants, museums, children's outings, etc. Everything runs on sustainably purchased electricity and the garden is fenced. In short: you are completely out of it all in a responsible way and your dog is also welcome!
Walking and cycling
There is a lot to do in the area. The house comes with 2 standard bicycles. In the shed there is a double socket, where you can easily charge your electric bicycles. (Electric) bicycles can be rented at the Mous bicycle shop in Balk. For example, cycle the 10-forests route... The walker can also indulge himself. There are beautiful walking forests near Balk, but also near Rijs and Oudemirdum. But authentic towns such as Sloten, IJlst, Woudsend and Hindeloopen are also beautiful to walk. You can walk along the Slotermeer from the holiday home.
Activities for children
There are also many activities for your children in the area: e.g. the Wouda Pumping Station in Lemmer, the Chameleon Village in Terherne, Aqua Zoo and the Nature Museum in Leeuwarden, the Planetarium in Franeker, Walibi in Biddinghuizen, nature museum Mar en Klif in Oudemirdum, the Model Railway Museum, Frisian Maritime Museum, the cinema in Sneek and not to forget sailing and surfing lessons, which are given in abundance in Balk. In the house there are various fun games such as Monopoly, Stratego, 'The Smartest Man', Mastermind, a chess and draughts game, puzzles, memory games and Jeu de Boules.
Ideal area for water sports enthusiasts!
Sloops through the Gaasterland forests and nature reserves or sailing, swimming, surfing, SUP and fishing on the Slotermeer: it's all possible! The Slotermeer is a beautiful calm and shallow lake, without commercial shipping. Ideal for children to learn to surf and sail, for example. The depth at the park and in the Slotermeer is on average 1.40 meters. There is also a separate and well-marked somewhat deeper channel for the boats that need it. A canoe can be rented nearby, for example to make a nice trip through the stream the Luts in Balk and through the woods.
Sailing options
There is a direct connection to the Slotermeer and the other Frisian lakes. Nearby you will find beautiful nature reserves, which can be navigated directly from the park via, for example, the stream the Luts, which leads through Balk and the beautiful Gaasterland forests. Nearby are nice water sports places such as Woudsend, IJLst, Sneek, Sloten, Heeg and Hindeloopen.
Bad weather activities
When the weather is not so good, a visit to Sneek is recommended (including Model Railway and Maritime Museum and cinema). Trips such as Mar en Klif in Oudemirdum, the Jopie Huisman museum in Workum or the Woudagemaal in Lemmer or Hindeloopen and IJlst are also well worth a visit.

The bungalow park is located on the Slotermeer. The holiday home is also within walking distance of the restaurant "Badmeester Keimpe", which has been voted "most beautiful terrace in Friesland". Both inside and outside you have a beautiful view of the Slotermeer and the surrounding forests. There are also 2 charging stations here. Balk has a lively center with clothing stores, bakery, butcher, fishmonger, bookstore, drugstores, furniture stores, HEMA, BLOKKER, various restaurants and supermarkets (Plus, Poiesz and Lidl).
Dog off-leash areas
The dog is allowed to run loose in the Balkster forest in Balk. This is also allowed in the beautiful Hondenbos near Oudemirdum.
