The holiday home has a garden of almost 3000 m2 and is completely fenced, so that the children and pets stay within the garden. It is located in the Drents-Friese would. Nearby is the bird-rich peat area the Holtbeen of the Dwingelderveld National Park, there is also a Holtveen route. The Doldersummerveld is a vast heath reserve, with 110 breeding bird species including the quail, the partridge and the yellow wagtail. You can walk into this area from the cottage! Previously, the house already had an energy label C, this year wall and floor insulation was added and new insulated windows were installed. There is also a large lake (Canada Lake) 4 km away with good controlled water quality. Here you can swim and the children can play with sand. On the other side of the path there is also a lake for dogs / horses. A sand drift (with a unique bird population) has also recently been constructed at Aekingerzand.
The house has 5 bedrooms, 2 showers in which there is also a toilet. The largest bedroom has a double bed of 1.60m with a sofa bed next to it (a single bed unfolded) and adjacent to the large room is a small room with a cot and a single bed. It is therefore possible to sleep next to the cot for the first few nights so that the little ones can get used to their new environment. This room is at your disposal if you book the cot for €15. The second bedroom on the upper floor has a bed of 1.60m. The third bedroom upstairs has a bed of 1.40m. The fourth bedroom is on the ground floor, pleasant for guests who are less mobile. Here is a bed of 1.40m., the second bathroom is nearby on the ground floor. Also on the ground floor is the fifth bedroom with a loft bed. The upper bed is 90 cm wide, the lower bed 1.40 m. Ideal for children. There is a large kitchen with dishwasher, an oven and a microwave. In a technical room there is a washing machine, a dryer and a freezer. In the house there are many toys, books, comic books, drawing supplies, DVDs and the like for when the weather is not so nice. When the weather is nice, there is a trampoline, a playhouse with slide, sandpit, a playing field for playing ball games and lots of outdoor play equipment (stilts, skates, swings, play cars, badminton rackets, etc.). For the adults there is a large garden with several seating areas (a lounge area with a canopy in the sun; a dining area in the morning sun for breakfast, there is a tree bench and a gazebo under a tree for less sun worshippers). There is a lawn on which a tent can be set up. In the house there are many toys, DVDs and the like for when the weather is not so nice. Biodiversity is taken into account in the garden. In the spring I sometimes mow a little later to leave the flowering plants for the butterflies and insects, sometimes I mow around them. If there is a threat of drought, I let the grass grow a little longer to prevent it from drying out. Longer grass is also nice for the grass snake that comes by the pond in warm weather. The grass snake is harmless, has 2 spots on its cheeks and has no zigzag pattern on its back. There are also often frogs (tadpoles in spring) in the pond, where the salamanders also swim. The mole regularly churns up the garden, less attractive but useful for soil life.
