Diever is located in the municipality of Westerveld, in the west of
Drenthe and on the border with the neighbouring provinces of
Friesland and
Overijssel. With no less than three national parks in the area, Diever is a fantastic destination for nature lovers. The Drents-Friese Wold National Park, Weerribben-Wieden National Park and Dwingelderveld National Park guarantee beautiful walks and long bike rides through the most beautiful nature reserves in the Northern Netherlands. You will find routes for young and old and for each level throughout. These routes will lead you past the most beautiful spots in the region, including a special sight: the dolmen of Diever. These mysterious buildings are common in Drenthe, but this is the only one in the immediate vicinity. The huge stone chambers were probably made as tombs in prehistoric times.
