The Herenboerderij

You will find this luxurious group accommodation 'De Herenboerderij' near the Hondsrug, the area of ​​the Dolmens in beautiful Drenthe. Are you looking for hotel luxury for your family or group of friends, but with the freedom of your own home? Then you have definitely come to the right place.

The Herenboerderij is the most complete and luxurious group accommodation in the Netherlands and in a special monumental farm, of the shrinking type. Built in 1912 from the design of K. Prummel, the layout of the house and stables are still in their original state.

In this beautiful monumental building there is plenty of space for 65 people (54 adults, 11 children).

In total there are 18 luxurious, large family bedrooms, including 2 rooms with double box beds. The doors of the box bed can be closed comfortably and the bed size is up to date. There are 15 bathrooms in total.

All rooms are luxuriously and stylishly furnished. Upon arrival, the beds are already made and the towels are ready. All bathrooms are equipped with Ritual products and, just like in a hotel, everything is there. All you have to do is bring your own food and drinks, the rest is provided.

There are two large kitchens with all the trimmings. One of the kitchens is so large that it has 4 ovens, 4 dishwashers, 2 induction hobs, 2 freezers and 2 refrigerators…. Ideal for cooking groups. The other kitchen, with a view over the meadows, has a Boretti gas stove, 2 ovens, 1 combi oven and 2 dishwashers plus an 'American refrigerator' with built-in ice block device.

The house has several cozy lounge areas, two bars (one large and one small cozy English bar). You can retreat there in the evening with a smaller group while enjoying a drink and the crackling sound of the wood-burning stove.

For relaxation and entertainment there are :
2 swimming pools, 2 whirlpools, a sauna with rain shower, 2 cinemas and a complete gym.

In terms of games, there is a jeu de boules court outside, two playhouses for the children, table tennis, a basketball court, a trampoline and two shuffleboard courts inside.

Outside there are also 2 barns where you can sit together. Each barn also has a gas BBQ and a wood-burning stove. We supply gas plus a little wood. You have to take the rest with you.

The garden is completely enclosed with a fence so that both the children and your dog(s) can play safely.

The farm :

The Herenboerderij is one of the most beautiful farms in Drenthe and therefore also a protected national monument. 'The Herenboerderij' consists of the entire farm, which is a total of 90 meters long and about 20 meters wide.

In the monumental front house you will feel like the rich gentleman farmer of a hundred years ago. In the beautifully renovated "part" you will be amazed by 15 meter high ceilings, authentic details and, above all, a lot of space and luxury. Discover what a wealthy farm looked like 100 years ago.

Many authentic details such as the stables have remained. We would like to mention a few special details. The rooms are of course all spacious and luxurious and all with their own style.

Sleep like the rich landowner did more than 100 years ago. Or sleep in the former horse stable with all the authentic details. Are you looking for something cozier? Then choose a box bed, but in a room with a large bed and luxurious sanitary facilities.

And there is plenty to do. Of course, a few kilometers away there is the Hondsrug around Exloo with the sheep herd and plenty of space and peace for cycling and walking tours. Or for the children a day at the Drouwenerzand or Wildlands amusement park.

But there are also plenty of guests who hardly want to leave. Not surprising with all there is to do in and around the house!
