You will find our cozy holiday home in a beautiful location in the historic and bustling village of Ruinen, in the middle of nature. Huize Ruinen is located very privately in a unique forest garden. Enjoy the beautiful nature where you have all the privacy on an area of more than 800 m².
Due to its unique location, you can walk from the house through the forest to the Dwingelderveld National Park in a short time. The National Park is the largest contiguous wet heathland area in Western Europe. There are no fewer than two flocks of sheep with a shepherd who keep the heath in good condition. The diversity is great, ranging from forests, small streams, fens and heathlands.

Or perhaps to Wildlands, Plopsa Coevorden, an experience trail or a climbing park with the kids? In the summer months you can cool off in the open-air swimming pool in the village (5 minutes' drive).
In the immediate vicinity of Huize Ruinen there are three beautiful green villages: Dwingeloo, Diever and Havelte. The history of these villages goes back to the 12th or 13th century. Dwingeloo has the most beautiful village green in Drenthe, Diever is the gateway to the Drents-Friese Wold National Park and Havelte has two dolmens. There are numerous shops and restaurants in all these places and in Ruinen itself.
The village of Ruinen is located in Southwest Drenthe. The nearest NS train station can be found in nearby Meppel. Indication of travel times by car: Zwolle 30 minutes, Apeldoorn 60 minutes and Utrecht 90 minutes.
