Smoking is not allowed inside or under the veranda, please use the ashtray that is outside under the canopy. Géza Gárdonyi (who lived from 1863 to 1920) was a Hungarian writer and poet, best known for his historical novel "Egri csillagok" (Stars of Eger), set during the siege of Eger in 1552. He lived in Sály and his works, steeped in love for Hungarian history, have had a lasting influence on Hungarian literature.
We named our holiday home after Géza Gárdonyi because he lived at this house number in his younger years. The fact that even the street is named after him adds to the historical significance and connection with this famous Hungarian writer. If you are looking to cool off on hot days, there is a fantastic swimming spot about 25 minutes' drive away. There you can take a refreshing dip and enjoy the sun on the waterfront. As for the sights in the area, there is plenty to discover. A short distance away you will find Eger, a town known for its historic castle, thermal baths and local wines. You can visit the Eger Basilica, walk through the charming streets and enjoy the local dishes in the restaurants. Lillafüred offers a beautiful waterfall and beautiful caves. Surrounded by natural beauty, this place offers an amazing experience where nature and history come together. Moreover, you can enjoy a fun train ride from Lillafüred, which reveals the splendor of the area in a unique way. Of course, a visit to the beautiful capital Budapest should not be missed.
