Sequoia Le Géant

We have named the former farm, Le Séquoia Géant, named after the huge Mammoth (Levens) tree in our backyard. This tree is about 300 years old!
The house is detached on a land area of ??7,000 m², all space and privacy. You have the "realm" for yourself!
Total living area of ??the completely renovated house is approximately 175 m²! Equipped with all modern comfort, 3 spacious bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, spacious dining kitchen, separate dining room and large lounge with an immensely large fireplace.
TV (127 cm) with a wide range of so-called Free-to-Air channels including almost all NL stations.

Several outdoor terraces, one with a large dining table with chairs and a luxurious BBQ.
In the immediate vicinity is the largest artificial lake of France, Lac de Vassiviere, with all water sports recreation possibilities and with various beautiful sandy beaches with summery beach guards.

In our hamlet, a so-called Lieu-Dit (Artinsec) is one other inhabited house with an English family as owner. These stay here only during (summer) vacations. This house is located a short distance from Le Séquoia Géant. There are also some beautiful old stone barns that are also of the English family.

The base of our house dates from the late 18th century and the whole is restored. The former pig stall is now the Buanderie (space for washer / dryer and central heating system).
Furthermore, there is a recent construction but using the old characteristic stones, where the very spacious bedroom and bathroom (with shower) on the BG has been realized with direct access to the south-facing terrace.
This also created the possibility of a separate dining room (large table with 6 dining chairs).

On the BG of the original section you will also find the living room (lounge) with two spacious 2.5-seat sofas, the immense large fireplace, the TV with CanalDigital satellite receiver (several hundred so-called free-to-air TV channels from the Netherlands, Germany, England, France etc.) the WIFI router (connections are not always "quick", the reason is the location of our house in an outdoor area) and the large kitchen with the staircase to the 1st floor.

The entrances, with entrance, have a kitchen unit with sink, large double door cool / freezer cabinet with ice cubes production; Another extra toilet is made in the back.

On the 1st floor there are 2 good sized bedrooms and a bathroom with shower bath.
On this floor, in earlier times, the hayloft was the typical air holes, which have now become windows. The old entrance to this hay loft was via the stone staircase on the side of the house; This entrance door is now a large window in the bedroom facing west and thus offers a lot of light.

The view from the various terraces is beautiful: from the east side you look through a valley on the top of the hill, the hamlet of St. Martin-le-Chateau. The east-facing terrace is overlooked (Abri) and there is also a large dining table with 6 fine dining chairs. There are also plenty of relaxation armchairs available. For this terrace there is a smaller section where a round table is made on a tree stump so that you can have breakfast in warm sunny weather. In case of some rain, it is well-kept under the so-called Abri, with lighting. The remaining terraces are south and west, so lots of sunshine. A small pond (40 cm deep) on the east side of the garden complements the garden.
Below is a lot of wood that belongs to our house.

We have made a great effort to make our home truly a "home" by using good furniture, full kitchen inventory, but also a hairfohn and of course spacious beds, type of boxspring. The decoration of the various rooms has been done with love for detail and we trust that you will experience this and have a fantastic stay.
Outside there are plenty of relaxing armchairs / stretchers / dining chairs.

A friendly English couple, Louise and Matt (also cared for the garden, and it may appear that Matt does some light maintenance work like mowing the grass during your stay, do not you just want to say this to him just no problem) Live all year in a nearby village, act on our behalf as your host and may be helpful with advice and advice. On-site reception and tour / explanation by the house will be provided by them.

We, Marijke and Theo, are the owner of Le Sequoia Géant and started the rental by September 2014. Much of our free time we spent here and the house, the garden and the beautiful surroundings, including the Lac de Vassiviere at 10 min. Final cleaning, if "broom clean" delivered, is included in rental rate.

Bed linen is included and per stay we provide a set of kitchen towels.
Bath linen package can be rented at € 7.50 per package: large towel, towel, washcloth. Specify at reservation.

All prices are included during May-September; an energy surcharge of € 75 per week applies for October-April

Fireplace wood available at € 10 per basket with deposit via deposit

Additional information

Our house is located in a Lieu-Dit called Artinsec and belongs to the "Parc Naturel Régional de Millevaches en Limouisin" ( www.pnr-millevaches.fr )

This Lieu-this consists of a total of 2 houses that are well apart and a few old stone barns owned by the (English) neighbors.

The distance from Artinsec to the nearest village, Peyrat-le-Chateau is about 6 km. A nice walk of over an hour. Artinsec is also part of the municipality, commune, of Peyrat-le-Chateau.
The small town is located on a beautiful lake and has a resistance museum in the old castle tower.
The river La Maulde flows past Peyrat-le-Chateau and also runs further behind our house.

The necessary basic needs are available in Peyrat-le-Chateau; the village has a bakery, a butcher, 2 pharmacies, 1 large and 1 small supermarket, a shop with newspapers, etc., a hardware shop, a bar-tabac with terrace and three restaurants including a pizzeria.
In the adjacent village, St.Martin-Chateau, except for the Cascade (waterfall), an old auberge has been reopened, Auberge de la Cascade, which has been revived by a young French couple, resulting in a good kitchen, everything is prepared , and a friendly service. Here you can practice various water sports such as sailing, swimming, canoeing etc.

The lake is also excellent for fishing, excellent fishing spots present which are at a good distance from the beaches.

    Wij hebben een heerlijke week gehad in dit vakantiehuis, wat voorzien is van alle gemakken, goede bedden, volledige keukeninventaris, kortom alles wat je nodig hebt om een heerlijke vakantie te creëren. De ruimte om het huis geeft je de gelegenheid om overal een plekje te vinden om heerlijk te genieten van het uitzicht, ook bij mindere dagen qua weer is het heerlijk vertoeven onder de overkapping hebben wij zo ook ervaren. We zagen tegen de schemering de herten , vossen en zwijnen lopen in de heuvels , prachtig zicht!! Voor wie even echt weg wil van het drukke leven is dit een ideale plek om uit te rusten, te genieten en te ontspannen. In de omgeving vele leuke Franse dorpjes en mogelijkheden om een wandeling te maken. Wij merkte wel dat het in september erg rustig is overal, het toeristenseizoen is dan redelijk voorbij.
    Het ontvangst was prima door de Engelse contactpersonen en er stond een welkomst mandje met wat eerste benodigdheden zoals thee, koffie en een heerlijke wijn, die er wel in ging na onze lange autorit. Kortom een heerlijke vakantieplek, wie weet komen wij hier nog eens terug.
