Sequoia Le Géant

We have the former farmhouse, Le Géant Sequoia, named for the huge Mammoth (Life) tree in our backyard. This tree is about 300 years old!
The house is detached situated on a land area of ??7,000 sqm, all the space and privacy. You have the "rich" all to yourself!
Total surface area of ??the completely renovated house approximately 175 sqm! Equipped with all modern comforts, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large kitchen, separate dining room and large living room with an immense fireplace.
TV (127 cm) with a wide range of so-called. Free-to-Air channels including almost all UK channels.

Multiple outdoor terraces, one covered with large dining table with chairs and a deluxe BBQ.
In the immediate vicinity is located including the largest artificial lake in France, Lac de Vassiviere, with all the water sports and recreation opportunities with several sandy beaches with lifeguards in the summer months.

In our hamlet, a so-called. Lieu-Dit (Artinsec) is one other occupied house with an English family as an owner. These stay here only during (summer) holidays. This house is set away from Sequoia Le Géant. Furthermore, there are some lovely old stone barns that are also of the English family.

The basis of our house dates from the late 18th century and completely restored. The former pigsty is bv now the Buanderie (space for washer / dryer and central heating system).
There is a more recent construction but using the old characteristic stone, which is now the very spacious master bedroom en-suite (with shower) was achieved on the ground floor with direct access to the terrace facing south.
Also it created the possibility to make a separate dining room (big table with 6 dining chairs).

On the ground floor of the original section also find the living room (living room) with two spacious 2.5-seater sofas, the immense fireplace, TV with Canal Digital satellite (several hundred so-called. Free-to-air TV channels from Netherlands, Germany, England, France, etc.) of the Wireless router (links are not always called 'fast' cause this is the location of our house in a rural area) and the large kitchen with the staircase to the 1st floor.

The kitchen, with entrance hall, a kitchen with sink, large double door fridge / freezer with ice cubes ao production; behind this is made an additional WC.

On the 1st floor are two good sized bedrooms and a bathroom equipped with shower created.
On this floor was in earlier times the hayloft with the typical air holes, which have now become windows. The old access this hay loft was via stone steps at the side of the house; This entrance is a large window in the bedroom which faces west and so very much light offers.

The view from the terraces is magnificent: from the east side looking through a valley on the right, on top of the hill, the hamlet of St Martin-le-Chateau. The terrace on the east is otherwise covered (Abri) and here there is also a large dining table with six fine dining chairs. Also there are plenty of recliners available. For this terrace is a smaller section where a round table on a tree stump was designed so that you can have breakfast for example in warm sunny weather. With possibly some rain under the so-called. Abri, with lighting, good to stay. The other terraces on the south and west, so much sun. A small pond (40 cm deep) on the east side of the garden complements the garden.
Behind it is a large piece of wood that belongs to our house.

We have gone to great lengths to make our home truly make a "home" are using good furniture, full kitchen equipment but also a hairdryer and of course ample beds, box spring type. The furnishing of the rooms is designed with attention to detail and we trust you that true experience and will have a fantastic stay.
For outside there are plenty of recliners / stretchers / dining chairs present.

A friendly English couple, Vikki and Luke (provided also the garden and it is possible that Luke some light maintenance such as mowing the grass performing during your stay, you want to say this does not just get to Luke, no problem) that year in a nearby Lieu-Dit live, act on our behalf as your host and can advise and assist, if desired, be helpful. The reception at the destination and tour / explanation through the house will be provided by them.

This Lieu-dit consists of a total of 2 houses spacious apart and a few old stone barns owned by the (British) neighbors.

The distance from Artinsec to the nearest village, Peyrat-le-Chateau is about 6 km. A nice walk of more than an hour. Artinsec therefore belongs to the municipality, commune, Peyrat-le-Chateau.
The small town is situated on a beautiful lake and has eg a resistance museum in the old castle tower.
The river flows past La Maulde Peyrat-le-Chateau and continues behind our house down.

Peyrat-le-Chateau are available the necessary basic needs; The village has a bakery, a butcher, two pharmacies, one large- and one small supermarket, a shop with newspapers, etc., a hardware store, bar-tabac with terrace and three restaurants including a pizzeria. The other two restaurants offer a regional cuisine; 1 restaurant (Bellerive) is owned by an English couple, Helen and David, who is now running three years the restaurant-hotel.

It is a general practice present in the village. In case that.

In Cheissoux, a village on the road D13 to Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, is an excellent restaurant Auberge de la Fontaine; a nice place for the usual lunch by-the-week (three-course menu at € 13-) and / or dinner. The owner, Eric, and chief cook, has among other things worked at Gordon Ramsay in London. A recommendation!

If you come in the winter months and you want to spend a day on the ski? About 2 hours drive away are the ski areas south-west of Clermont Ferrand with ao Super Besse and Mont d'Or.

The house was absolutely great and what a magnificent view from the terrace! If you appreciate quietness and thus not being disturbed, this is the rental to have. Just a five minutes drive from the house , there's the lovely village Peyrat-le-Château with a few nice restaurants and a nice small lake where you can have a swim. You can also have a lovely lunch at a little restaurant called Auberge de la Cascade in Saint-Martin-Chateau, which is run by a very nice couple.
As I wrote the house was great, but a few minor improvements would have resulted in a 10 for us. For example there's no wall socket in the bathroom, we prefer a normal coffee machine instead of a Senseo device, and there's no extractor hood above the stove. But once again these details are nothing in comparison with the rest of the house.
