In 2001 we (Chris and Carina) completely changed course and by coincidence ended up in St. Aubin du Thenney, a small town in Normandy. From 2002 we started to rent out our 1st gite "Gite La Cour Vitrouil". "Gîte La Mévrière" became our 2nd gite from 2015. We think it is important that our guests can enjoy a well-deserved holiday in a clean and comfortable house in complete privacy. With our children we still enjoy this wonderful and beautiful place every day!

Location & tips

Additional information

First of all, we would like to thank you for your hospitality and the many tips you have given us about the area. There is so much to see here. Really amazing. Honfleur is our number one priority. But we also really liked canoeing. Le Bec Hellouin, Trouville, Deauville and Lisieux. All very beautiful places to visit. And then come back to your beautiful house. Where everything is there. Completely fine! Thanks and maybe until next time. Peter, Rianne, Michelle, Niek, Arlette (July 2020) We had a wonderful week here. It was actually too short. There is so much to see in the area. We have been on the road a lot. After such a day it is nice to come home to such a beautiful house! Honfleur is indeed highly recommended. We also went to Paris for a day. By train. This is easy to do, although the train ticket was a bit pricey. In Bernay we discovered a nice restaurant chez Pepé Rosa, here you can eat deliciously! Unfortunately it is over for us now, but we keep this house in mind. Regards, Hans and Jacqueline (July / August 2020) We had a wonderful quiet week in your comfortable home. We have made some nice walks. Thanks for the restaurant tips! Kind regards, Per, Katja and Rosa (Aug 2020) How we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your wonderful place! The well-equipped house with the relaxing view, the spacious garden with shady trees and the rural surroundings were the perfect end to our holiday in Normandy after a week at Trouville-sur-Mer. We are happy that we arrived last in your house and not the other way around. Your home and your hospitable reception felt like a warm blanket to us. Many thanks and warm regards, Beatrijs, Laurens & Raluca (Aug 2020).
Just a week of vacation. What a nice arrival with a warm welcome from Carina and a super nice house. With 4 and had a wonderful week. Honfleur, Rouen, Cabourg and the beautiful park at Harcourt Castle. On our last day we had a delicious lunch in the courtyard of Le jardin de Taormina. Also walked a lot in this wonderfully quiet area. We were also lucky with the beautiful weather! In short, a super relaxed week together in your beautiful, super clean house. Warm greetings from: Truus and Nico and Kees and Loes. (April 2019) ..... and yes we came this way for a second time! We wanted to see so much in this beautiful region last year that we decided to just go again. Also this week flew to ... still wishes. We visited Rouen, Grandcamp Maisy (beach with scallops) and Giverny (what a splendor of flowers!). The house was just like last year, clean and comfortable. Kind regards, Peter, Melinda, Jaelle, Rick, Jasper, Sarah (April / May 2019) What a wonderful house to stay in. The first week it was quite warm, but in the house, with the shutters closed, nice and cool. We had beautiful weather for 14 days and visited the landing beaches of Omaha, Juno and Sword. Very impressive we found the American war cemetery in Colleville sur Mer and from there to Longues sur Mer and Arromanches. Not to forget Rouen, Caen, Bayeux, le Bec Hellouin, Vimoutiers and le Breuil, where we could taste calvados. Honfleur was beautiful too. Seen a lot, but also relax in the lovely garden. Thanks for the fantastic house. Kind regards, Peter and Netty (June / July 2019). What a peaceful environment. It took some getting used to that many shops were closed on Sunday because of stocking up on provisions. So much to see, in so little time and then also a heat wave. Rouen was beautiful. The landing beaches are very touristy. Do we have to go back in the low season. Furthermore, nice villages in the area and pay attention to the speed cameras. Who knows, goodbye, greetings Alfred, Ingrid, Bart and Lisa (July 2019) We had a very nice week here. The weather was beautiful and it is wonderfully quiet here. Carina, we were happy with the good tips you gave us, the welcome was so warm that we felt right at home here. We enjoyed this nice house, it is spacious, comfortable and even with the heat wave it stayed cool inside. Kind regards, Raimond and Ina (August 2019) September and a delicious breakfast in the open air on a comfortable terrace. It was a great pleasure every morning. The cottage exceeded expectations, as did your service. The flea markets and shops, Haras national du Pin, the gardens of Monet, the tasteful restaurants (especially Moulin Fouret), Bec Helloin / Brionne ... everything was beautiful, delicious and worth repeating. These Francophiles have been able to indulge themselves again. We will remember you with a warm feeling, this comfortable house and the picturesque surroundings. If you come to Drenthe, the coffee / tea is made in no time. Thanks! Warm regards, Evelien, Selina, Arend (September 2019) First of all, we would like to thank you for your hospitality and the many tips you have given us about the area. There is so much to see here. We really enjoyed this lovely spot! A gem. The house is comfortable, everything is there, clean, lovely garden. Another small tip: an electric fly swatter (ceiling and walls are so neat, too bad to hit something with a regular fly swatter :)) Etretat is really my number 1. But there is so much beauty .... Enjoy it here. Thanks for everything and who knows for one more time. Kind regards, Peter, Melinda, Jaelle, Rick and Sarah (May 2018). Dear Carina and family, What a warm welcome from Carina, and the bottle of rosé was nice too. The house is complete, comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the space, large garden and surroundings. Walked a lot with the dog and the bikes also covered a lot of kilometers. Also seen a lot: Caen with its impressive war history. Lisieux with its beautiful cathedral, Cerza Zoo, Trouville / Deauville beaches. Bernay, Orbec. Walking plus cycling on the green path. We had beautiful weather, breakfast in the garden every day and end the day with coffee or wine in the garden. In short, a perfect holiday, too bad it's over. We wish you all the best and who knows .... see you soon. Inge, Gerald, David and Boots (July 2018). Dear Carina and Chris, For us it was the first time that we were on a family holiday in France. We have visited many famous sights in Normandy and covered many kilometers. It had been more than worth it. We are all well equipped, mainly because of the comfortable house and the quiet environment. Last night we went out for dinner and then enjoyed the countless stars and the visible planets. Awesome! We thank you for the hospitality and warmth during our contacts. It may well happen that we come back to Normandy again, because we haven't seen everything yet. All the best and thanks for everything! Henk, Conny, Sander, Maurice and Daniëlle (July / Aug 2018). Dear Carina, We came to rest a little. Well it worked! Lovely house, nice environment and beautiful things seen. Also read a lot of books, slept in and drank good wine. A nice week of vacation. Thank you for helping us where you could, to setting up the washing machine, but also tourist tips! Thanks. Jaap and Christa (August 2018). Dear Carina, Chris and Christiaan and Fréderique, Another wonderful week here. Warm welcome from you, great to see you again, catching up for more than a year, too little time, we enjoyed ourselves again. It was a pleasure to be in your house again, we have discovered new places in beautiful Normandy! And Christiaan the boluses were delicious, you can start a new market here. The recipe from Zeeland but made in Normandy! The past week has flown by, hopefully we will see each other again soon! Henk and Josephine and Michou (August / September 2018). Had a great week's holiday, the peace and the surroundings. Thank you for everything and the hospitality Aleida, Emil, Ursula and John (September 2018)
Dear Carina, Chris, Christiaan and Frederique, It was a very nice week again! Greetings, Henk, Josephine, Rob, Lettice, Mike, Maud and Michou (April 2017) Thank you for the wonderful week in your well-kept, comfortable home! Enjoyed Rouan, the abbeys and the walks in the area. You are doing well Herman and Josien (June 2017) Dear Carine and Chris, We have enjoyed your hospitality. Enjoyed Normandy, seen, experienced and tasted a lot. Then relax in the gite La Mévrière, a neat little house. A house with washing machine, dryer, wifi, that's how we searched the internet, ha, ha ..... Thanks for your tips, so that we enjoyed Normandy even more. From Caen, Bernay, Lisieux, Etretat, Trouville, the Zoo Cerza (recommended) and many other beautiful places. Just look in the top drawer. We will not soon forget the "gardeners", ha, ha ... Thank you for your good care, we will remember a good time in Normandy in the Netherlands with great pleasure; La Cour Vitrouil. Kind regards, Cornelis, Linda, Gaby, Dominique, Amanda, Dylan (July 2017) Dear Carina, Chris, Christiaan and Frédérique, We booked this gîte for a week last minute. Upon arrival and the warm welcome, we already knew that a week would be too short. And that turned out to be true! We enjoyed the house, the garden, the environment and the company here! When we decided to go here, there was one landmark we wanted to visit and that was Omaha Beach and American Cemetry and Memorial. That turned out to be a short drive but was impressive! also impressive was the Basilica of St. Thérèsee in Lisieux. So impressive. Festyland was fun, the Cerza Zoo was even more fun :) A small, big surprise was "La maison du macaron". Thank you Chris for taking us there. What a special place, small shop with the tastiest macarons! The week has flown by !! If we get the chance we will come back for sure. We wish you all the best !! Love, Carel, Marian, Tijcho and Gwaeron. PS we will not soon forget the pizza night (July / August 2017). Dear Carina, Thank you for your warm welcome. We had a good time here. We have been to the landing beaches and also to Etretat. All very beautiful places. Also went to the cheese factory and to Lisieux. Unfortunately the weather was a bit hit and miss. Which meant we couldn't cycle here. Thanks, greetings from Jan, Janneke, Dirk-Jan, Willand and Jarnick (August 2017). Dear Carina, Chris, Christiaan, We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings (beautiful towns and beaches) and of course also a cozy comfortable house! Despite 1 day of rain, we could not complain about the weather. We have had another beautiful holiday in Normandy. Thank you for your kind welcome. Christophe, Annick, Michiel, Emma, Chelsea and Kobe (August 2017). Dear Carina and Chris, What a fantastic house. We had a wonderful week with good weather. Lovely cycling and enjoyed the places that Carina noted for us. Thank you for your hospitality. Greetings, Joost, Erwin and Anita (August-September 2017). Dear Carina, Thank you very much for staying in this cottage. Everything looks neat and tidy and a warm welcome. This immediately gave a good feeling. Very nice that you have given us tips on how to view things and also a drawer full of leaflets. Enough to be able to do. We have therefore made many kilometers. Conville sur mer, Cerza, Paris, Honfleur, Lisieux and you name it .... Visited several churches and museums. Thanks for everything ! Greetings, Patrick and Suzanne (September 2017). We enjoyed a wonderful stay in a very beautiful house in the Normandy. Fortunately, the weather has played an important role, but the ambiance of the house and the surroundings have made us enjoy it to the full. Jo, Marleen and Ed (October 2017)
Lieve, Carina, Chris, Christiaan and Frédérique. Thanks for the nice week and great time. We enjoyed it. See you soon, Henk, Rob, Lettice, Mike, Maud (April / May 2016) Ciao Carina and Chris, Unfortunately we have to conclude that the days fly by here are a lot faster than under the Dutch sun. The weather here was considered sub-par, but everywhere we went the sun has lit us up. The gite was perfectly suited for the things you usually do under a roof. Having breakfast on the terrace in the sun and drinking a glass of wine also works fine. The area has turned out to be a nice walking area and we fell in love with the village festival in St. Aubin du Thenney. The one who doesn't get a big grin on the face at the lawnmower race will never be okay. We have gained beautiful experiences from the wider area in Honfleur, Abbaye de Jumièges, Viller sur Mer, the Calvados distillery in le Breuil en Auge and various other places in the region. OK, let's think about the direct click between us: happy with it! As long as the route leans slightly this way, we will report immediately. Saluut, Mirjam, Ma G. and Han. (July 2016). Dear Carina and Chris, We have had a wonderful week. The area is beautiful and the house was great! Greetings, Leonie, Reno, Amy and Justin (July 2016) We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. Relax and recover. Still seen and done a lot. It was delicious! Greetings, Nico, José, Fenne, Eline, Anna and Toine (August 2016). Dear Carina, Chris, Christiaan and Frédérique, Thank you very much for the wonderful time in your beautiful, well-kept house! We enjoyed. We had great weather, seen a lot and went to the beach. Thanks and you are doing well! Greetings, Rob, Angenel, Amira, Boris and Pim (August 2016).
We had the honor to be the first to use your new gite. The gite is well equipped with the necessary kitchen utensils. We had a great week. Wonderfully quiet, but also many opportunities to enjoy Normandy. The weather was also good for us so the walking shoes and bicycle came in handy. A week is too short, but if it goes well we hope to come back again. We wish you all the best and hope that many will follow us. Bep, Henk, Bram and Jannie ((June 2015) We enjoyed a wonderful week in your super beautiful gite! We saw a lot (and made many kilometers :)), enjoyed the peace and quiet here and the beautiful Normandy. Without your pep-talk we would never have dared to drive into Paris by car ... luckily on our last day of vacation we still enjoyed the view of the Sacre Coeur, walked at the Louvre, Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower .... Thank you for your warmth and hospitality. That made our holiday really great. And recommendations for the house ..... we do not really .... We thought it was fine as it is! Greetings, Aleida, Martien, Linda, Freek, Niek, Emma (July 2015). We had a great holiday in your gite. It was very complete and well equipped. We enjoyed Normandy and beautiful surroundings. Your welcome and hospitality was great. We have also experienced the personal contact with Carina as very positive. We are convinced that many more guests here will enjoy this beautiful gite. Greetings and goodbye, Frank, Anita, Martij and Renate. (July / August 2015). We had a wonderful week in your house. We really enjoyed the area and the nice villages in the area. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. Although we weren't there much we still enjoyed it. Your hospitality immediately made us feel welcome. We also received great tips for things to do in the area, which we made good use of. Thank you very much for the nice week. Greetings Emma and Kim (August 2015). What a wonderful and very complete house. We received a very warm welcome and felt very welcome and at ease! We could talk for hours :) Who knows, we may come back here and otherwise always welcome to us in Neerijnen. Warm greetings and thanks again, Jan and Meta (August 2015). What bonbons can bring about !! Nice house, good reception, beautiful surroundings. Beautifully cycled, motorbike driven and equipped. Thanks and Greetings. Dirk and Rianne (September 2015)
