Just a short distance (2km) from the pretty town of Martel, we came across Mirandole, a striking holiday home built in the local style. From its elevated position, Mirandole enjoys beautiful vistas towards Martel and beyond. In fact, the first owners loved the view so much that they designed the house to take full advantage of its great location.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are on the ground floor, while the open-plan living/dining area occupies the entire first floor. Here you will find French doors that emphasize the view, there is also a
seat by the window. At one end of this spacious kitchen, sliding doors lead to the comfortable living room and to the inviting outdoor terrace, where 5 small steps lead to the adjacent
swimming pool and lower terrace, all positioned to make the most of the evening sun and the sun during the day. A feeling of space and light has been created throughout the house with tiled floors, pastel colored walls in the bedrooms and a double height ceiling in the living area. Modern bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable sofas and underfloor heating ensure that the comforts of home are not forgotten…Entrance hall. Double bedroom with en suite bathroom and patio doors to the garden. Double bedroom. Bathroom. Double bedroom with en suite shower room and patio doors to the garden. Utility room (washing machine).

Terrace by the pool. Built-in BBQ. Private car park. Large grounds (0.5 hectares), forest and garden. Private swimming pool (10m x 5m) with Roman corner steps. Your time will no doubt be spent by the pool and on the terrace, although the rest of the grounds deserve exploration as well. The garden is half a hectare and is largely left 'au naturel'. To one side of the house is a rural footpath that takes you past fields and meadows to the village of Baladou. It is one of the many walks that can be done in this area, as well as other sporting activities such as canoeing on the Dordogne River (5km) and horse riding.
Located in the Dordogne valley of the Lot, Martel is a fine example of a Gallic town full of life and exuberance. Historic stone buildings are home to restaurants, cafes and shops, with narrow streets leading to the main square where a beautiful covered marketplace takes center stage. Surrounded by rolling countryside through which the Dordogne River flows, Martel will undoubtedly appeal to many. Many famous sites are within easy driving distance, including the spectacular village of Rocamadour (21km), the fascinating caves of Padirac (28km) and the renowned Dordogne town of Sarlat-la-Canéda (an hour's drive). Closer to home, a ride on the steam train that runs along the cliffs between Martel and St Denis will delight children and we're sure everyone will enjoy the summer evenings in Martel.
