Location: Le Bois Plage is centrally located on the island. Here are the most beautiful sandy beaches. In the village there are several restaurants, a supermarket, 2 bakeries, a caterer, several nice shops and bicycle rental companies. There is a market every morning. In Les Halles, the covered part of the market, fresh island products such as fish, vegetables and fruit can be bought.
Ile de Ré, an island in the Atlantic Ocean, is very popular because of the mild climate, the beautiful, wide sandy beaches, the beautiful and clean sea and the authentic villages.
This beautiful island is nicknamed Ré la Blanche because all the houses are white. The island is connected by a 3 kilometer long bridge on the mainland at the city of La Rochelle in the Charente Maritime department.
There are no less than 110 km of cycle paths on the island and two of France's 'plus beaus villages' can be admired here, Ars-en-Ré and La Flotte. The small white houses with green shutters, the fragrant hollyhocks and the picturesque fishing villages provide the ultimate holiday feeling.
The mild climate is due to the warm Gulf Stream that flows along the island. The sea water is pleasant even in the preseason. The number of hours of sunshine per year is equal to the Riviera, namely more than 2700 hours of sunshine per year.
