Chalet Les Bruyeres

Chalet Les Bruyeres **** can accommodate 4 people and has recently been completely renovated and redecorated by Philippe, who is interior designer.
When you step inside the front door opens into a spacious living room. Grouped around the wood stove is a cozy sitting area. Right you see the large, luxurious kitchen of all amenities, such as an induction stove with two ovens and a grill, a built-in dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator. Behind the kitchen is the beautiful bathroom with walk-in shower, bathroom cabinet, closet and toilet. Behind are the two bedrooms: one room with two single beds and one room with a double bed (Tempur mattress). There is more than enough storage space for your belongings and clothes.
The chalet has a mini stereo with Bluetooth, TV (French channels), DVD player (free) Wi-Fi.
Outside you have access to several terraces with garden furniture and a beautifully landscaped garden, partly fenced, especially for those who want to bring their dog. You have a nice view of the valley of the Besbre and the mountains opposite.
From the chalet you can walk right into the forests for the most fantastic walks.

Additional information

The thermal baths of Vichy
In your chalet you will find books, guides and leaflets about what all here to do in the area. Below is a small selection of activities and attractions.

Sports and leisure

La Bourbonnaise (or the Monts de la Madeleine) is situated in the north of the Auvergne offers peace, space and beautiful nature. You may especially feel like to just have a relaxing break. Then this is the ideal place.

But there is also a lot to do: hiking (400 km of marked trails), mountain biking (112 km of marked trails), cycling, canoeing, swimming, horseback riding, paragliding, skiing, skiing, acro-branch, geo-caching, fishing etc. etc.

6 km from Domaine Laveneau is La Loge des Gardes, the only classified station of the Allier, located at 1100 m altitude. This station is also open during the summer and then offers a multitude of sporting activities for young and old.

Saint Clément (10 minutes) is a lake where you can swim, canoe, pedal boat or rent a quad. On the shore of the lake is also an "extreme adventure forest", among other things with four cable cars.

Lac de Villerest (45 minutes) has a beach and leisure center with all amenities: restaurants, bars, playground, trampolines, nautical center, paddle boats, track for radio controlled cars, miniature golf, beach volleyball, picnic areas and more.

And of course there are still many traditional feasts, festivals and flea markets.

Villages and places of interest

First, we recommend to visit some of the mysteries of the Monts de la Madeleine. That's 22 more information in your chalet ...

In our own village, La Chabanne, it is worth to take a walk inside the church and admire the murals. The paintings show moralistic messages with accompanying images. Actually a kind of comic.

Châtel Montagne (30 minutes) is a beautifully located village of artists. Here you can visit a number of exhibitions and galleries. The Romanesque church is magnificent.

In this region are several medieval villages, where you will also find Renaissance buildings, such as St Haon le Châtel, Ambierle, St. Jean Saint Maurice sur Loire (with a beautiful view of the Loire) and Le Crozet (beautifully restored).

The town of Vichy (45 minutes) is the world famous for its spring water and thermal baths. Les Célestins and the Center Thermal des Dômes thermal baths are among the most modern in Europe.
This city has a certain grandeur, with its rich and varied architecture: the opera, the Napoleon III Chalets, Saint-Blaise, the gallery of sources ... are just a few examples. It is also a very green city with 140 ha. with beautiful parks. On the banks of the Allier is the promenade recently renovated and you will find beaches, restaurants and a multitude of opportunities for relaxation and sport.
Get to know the city by taking the train that takes you through the main attractions (spot opposite the Tourist Office).

Roanne (45 mins) Located on the banks of the Loire and makes a dynamic impression. Roanne has had some tough years following the closure of most textile factories, but there seems to restore the city from now. The center is cozy, with lots of terraces, shops and a lot of people. The town museum is housed in a beautiful building from the end of the eighteenth century and especially offers Fine Arts and a large archaeological collection. From Roanne castle only the keep, but it is nicely situated on a square with several Renaissance houses.

Clermont Ferrand (90 minutes) is superb at the foot of the Puy-de-Dome, and is surrounded by (dormant) volcanoes. You can walk through the narrow medieval streets, or stroll along the wide boulevards of the XVIII and XIX century. The Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption stands on a hill in the middle of town and is built entirely of lava rock. This city is a paradise for anyone who 'shop' holds and there are museums, parks and numerous fountains.

theme parks

Vulcania is a park about volcanos. Vulcania is located in the Parc Naturel des Volcans d'Auvergne and the landscape is stunningly beautiful and very non-European. The attractions are both educational and spectacular. Dive into the heart of a volcano, an earthquake make it, travel in time and meet dinosaurs: it's all in Vulcania.
This park is a 2 1/2 hour drive from La Chabanne, but the journey there (via Clermont Ferrand and Vichy) is beautiful and the park is very rewarding.

Lepal (90 minutes) offers many attractions (such as the descent of the Colorado, "" The Enchanted Forest "," Le Twist "), a zoo and various performances.
