Hofi Abou is located in Banda Abou, between Barber and Soto. A small and very quiet neighborhood in the west of Curaçao. Close to the most beautiful beaches and nature reserves.
Our home is our paradise. We have paid a lot of care and attention to it, so that it has become a slightly different kind of house than what you can usually rent here (we speak from experience: we have been coming to this island for over 10 years). It is now a real 'Bert & Vief house'.
The House
The spacious living room forms the basis of the house. In the front part of this is an open kitchen (including refrigerator with freezer, 4-burner stove, oven, Nespresso machine, kettle, toaster, blender, cool box for the beach and a dishwasher). This space is surrounded by several terraces, each of which is delightful at a different time of the day. There is always a nice breeze somewhere.
The house also has two bedrooms (each with a double bed) and each with its own bathroom, air conditioning and a ceiling fan. The bathrooms both have hot water, which is quite unique among houses on Curaçao. The living room is modern and sleek and equipped with various conveniences, such as a JBL speaker, a turntable incl. vinyl records and an old-fashioned cassette player (so feel free to bring your box of old mixtapes). We also have a Smart TV and a small filled bookcase. The entire house is equipped with both 220 and 110 volt sockets.
Terraces
Front terrace: when it is at its hottest here, this is the best place to spend the day. This terrace connects to the pool deck. So from here you can splash in the pool within a few steps.
Pool deck: do we need to say more? From the (magnesium, so no stinging chlorine eyes and super soft skin) swimming pool (6 x 3 meters) you have a fantastic view over the garden (with various cacti and tropical trees). The sunrise and sunset is magical from this place. On the pool deck there is a large fixed lounge sofa on which you can easily lie with several people. Above the sofa hangs a large, openwork, shade cloth so that you can stay here all day. The string lights and the pool lighting (16 colors!) ensure that the pool deck is also cozy at night. The kitchen door is adjacent to the pool deck, so cold drinks are always within reach.
Back terrace: the terrace is equipped with a large dining table including the most beautiful sunsets behind the hills.
Gazebo: in the back of the garden a small terrace with shade and a hammock. Great place to retreat and enjoy the view.
Palappa: this is down at the end of the driveway. There is always wind here. So a nice cool place to park the car. But also for BBQ or relaxing in the shade with a cold beer. Including mini outdoor kitchen and BBQ.
Safety
To feel safe at Banda Abou, we have the very best security system. Their names are Linda, Roos and Jessica. When we bought the house, we got these ladies. Because these dogs were born here and we don't want to make the dog problem on Curaçao even bigger than it already is, they were allowed to stay. You can feed them if you like. They are super sweet. If you don't feel like it that much, no problem. Then Roy comes to feed the dogs every day. He has the key to the gate. If you prefer not to have them around the house, the dogs can go behind the fence in the garden, there is also their dog house and they have enough space. The ladies can come across as a bit fierce when you first arrive, but that's just for appearance ;-). We have also equipped the house with a RING alarm system and a safe to store your valuables.
Garden
Behind our house is a large wild garden, in which there is much to discover. We have pomegranates, Curaçao cherries and a complete Aloe Vera plantation.
Privacy
One of the reasons why we fell in love with this house is the peace and privacy you have here. The site is completely surrounded by greenery so that you will not be bothered by the neighbors.
Number of people and small children
The house is equipped for a maximum of 4 people. The house is not suitable for small children. The fence at the back terrace (where the dining table is) has large gaps between the bars and the pool has no fence.
