Sights in and around Novigrad
Novigrad has a rich history. The town originated from the remains of a fortress, on top of a hill that extended to the sea. Over the centuries, Novigrad has been in the hands of many civilisations, including the Greeks, Romans and even the Venetians. All these cultures have left their mark on the city, which is mainly reflected in the old centre. One of the most beautiful buildings is the Rigo Palace from 1760, which houses a small but interesting museum. Other historical sites include the parish church of Saint Pelagus, the 9th century Saint Agata church and the old Saint Maksim basilica. There is also a lot to see and do in the Novigrad area. A nice way to explore the region is by
bike. There are numerous lovely routes that will take you to the most beautiful places in Istria.
