Interesting things to know about Santa Cruz

  • A must for young and old: visit the Donkey Sanctuary in Santa Cruz.
  • Visible from all angles: the 168 metre high ‘Hooiberg’ (Haystack). You can climb this green hill via a staircase with 601 steps.
  • Gold was discovered in Aruba in 1824. The abandoned gold mines of Bushiribana are remnants of the large-scale gold mining of that time.
  • ‘Ayo’ is Papiamento for: ‘goodbye’.
