About Familie
The Smit family bought the Domaine Ecureuil (= de Eekhoorn) estate in 1997 and found the peace and space they were used to from the tropics. It's our place for the family. The family consists of 3 families and Smit senior with his wife. Together we enjoy nature and the environment there. The Ourthe, the cave on the domain and the road to it are very beautiful scenes. The beavers that have their nest along the Ourthe on the edge of our pasture are very special. To see them requires patience. Together they tackle different projects every year; these projects concern everything, including planting. The involvement is evident from the fact that a tree sometimes has a name.
