Drive into this road after about 50 meters, the house is on the right. You can park the car right in front of the entrance on the gravel or behind the fence.
nice to cool off the waterfall is behind the cemetery concrete path down after about 30m there is a goat path on the left.

Again the lower terrace, but now with parasol and a piece of the pool. It can be closed with a gate for the safety of the children.

Spacious and cozy living room with the right doors to the veranda. The opening on the left leads to the gap with TV / DVD, the bathroom and second bedroom. The door in the rear of the "master bedroom".
Another look at the living room with the left entrance to the kitchen and left the stove. Doors and windows are wooden shutters which the heat (and cold in the winter months) well outside can be kept.
The cozy kitchen was renovated in 2023 and equipped with a dishwasher.

This is the master bedroom. The double bed is 1.60 wide and 2:00 long and is equipped with a mosquito net. The pocket spring mattress is very comfortable.

The sheepherder from the village of Arneiro passed the house from time to time. It was a joy to hear him talk on the slopes with his cattle and his dogs. Unfortunately, he retired in 2020.
Fresh sandwiches for 1 euro! Hang a plastic bag with a euro in it on the lamppost at the asphalt road 200 meters from the house and the next morning the baker has filled it with seven delicious Portuguese sandwiches!
A shop for basic necessities is located in Santa Margarida, just 1 km away. In cafe Nacer do Sol (sunrise) they serve a fine bica (coffee). There is also a restaurant Chill Alte since 2021.
With a bit of luck you can encounter this tortoise around the house. In the baragems (water reservoirs) near the house you will definitely see water turtles.
Hikers can enjoy their stay here. In the bookcase in the living room you will find information for trips in the area and to the beach. There you can also find information on hikes.
In the picturesque town of Alte, 3 km away, you will find supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. It is a great destination for walkers.

Before Olhao (and Faro) is the Ria Formosa Natural Park with a 3 km walk through the bird-rich coastal area. By the time the tide is high you can watch the shell seekers return from the mudflats with the catch of that day which can be tasted in the evening in the many restaurants in the area.
Grafitti is encouraged in Olhao. This abandoned villa is a wonderful example.
For the more experienced hikers there is the Via Algarviana (GR13) that the Spanish border in the east of the Algarve is the most westerly point. Alte, 3 km away from Terra Boa is one of the stops.
Beautiful is the 5 km long walk "Rocha da Pena", a protected area with beautiful views at the top. Along the route in the town of Rocha a bar. The walk is about 15 minutes from Terra Boa.
Goat, sheep and cow cheeses are found in many types on the market of Loulé. And do not forget the presunto (raw and smoked ham).
On Saturday morning there is a large market in Loule, a must. In and around the historic covered market hall there are countless stalls where some local farmers also display their wares. In the photo the excellent stall with shellfish and crustaceans.
The Portuguese likes Piri-Piri, hot sauce made of such colored peppers ..
Also eaten a lot of fish. To find markets to shore and approval.
Silves, a 30-minute drive away, is a historic town whose history dates back to the time of the Moors. The walled old town and strategically located castle are worth a visit. Against the walls of the castle is Cafe Ingles where the Sunday lunch with live music is very popular.

And of course the fantastic beaches of the Algarve at 30 to 45 minutes by car from Boa Terra.

The inland of the Algarve is known for the many picturesque "white villages" scattered like snowflakes in the green landscape. One of these is Alte, which is considered one of the most characteristic places in the Algarve. Alte is situated on a small river - the Alte - that meanders along the village. The town is built against a mountain, so that you sometimes have to climb a lot to walk through it. So take your time, because no one is in a hurry here. Plus it’s lovely to wander through the narrow old streets. Keep your eyes peeled and visit the two beautiful churches in the village centre. There are also a few nice shops and small cafes and restaurants. You can also make nice trips from your holiday home. The Rocha da Pena nature reserve, where you can go for lovely walks and bike rides, is 15 minutes away by car. The beaches of the Algarve are also close by. Popular seaside resorts such as Albufeira and Armação de Pêra are just over 30 minutes away by car. So, when you rent a holiday home in Alte, you can really enjoy the best of both worlds!

Interesting facts about Alte

  • Nossa Senhora de Assunção Church is the centrepiece of Alte. It dates from the 13th century and houses some special hand-painted pieces from the 16th century.
  • Another attraction are two old water wells, the Fonte Pequena and Fonte Grande (small well and large well). In the Middle Ages, the women of the village gathered here to fill their pitchers and wash clothes.
  • At the "House of Soap", you can buy fragrant soaps made with local ingredients such as figs, carob, orange and honey.
