This beautiful detached chalet is located in the middle of nature on the mountain at the end of a 1.5 km long, well-drivable mountain road (completely asphalted to the last 150 m). From the Netherlands you can drive there in 8 to 10 hours (900 km from Utrecht, NL). It's all highway, except for the last 40 km. The last 40 km you ride through the valley, a normal wide road, without weird hairpin bends! Here you are already short of eyes, so beautiful....
In winter, the chalet is not accessible by car and you can park downstairs at the gondola. This one will take you upstairs. You can walk or ski to the chalet. Ski in - ski out. The chalet is located 500 m from the slopes, just below the middle station of the gondola.
The chalet is completely free. Nearby are 8 more chalets from private individuals, Swiss, who enjoy the surroundings themselves and do not rent out. That makes the location unique. Around the chalet is a large garden with terrace and private parking. In winter, the garden is normally completely covered with snow and you can ski from the slopes and a bit off piste, straight to the chalet. The view is beautiful all around. Mountains, pine trees, birds, squirrels, you name it. It never gets boring!
From the spacious hall you enter the living room or kitchen through fixed doors.
In the living room there is a comfortable 2-person sofa with a view of the mountains. Here is also the spacious, cozy dining area. The room is heated by a heater with thermostat. In no time it is wonderfully warm. There is no TV and you can't stream via KPN/Ziggo etc in Switzerland. Netflx does work! The kitchen has 4 electric hobs, an oven, fridge, small table, sink, kitchen cabinets with crockery, cutlery, pans etc. The kitchen is heated (electrically) by a thermostat. From the living room there is access to the small bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom is for 3 guests. There are 2 bunk beds and there is some space for storing clothes. From the window there is a view of the mountains. The windows can be darkened by closing the shutters. The beds are 2 meters long, 90 cm wide and comfortable. They come with duvets and pillows.
The bathroom has a shower, toilet, sink and centrifuge. There is no washing machine in the chalet. The bathroom is heated (electrically) by means of a thermostat.
If desired, you can make unlimited use of WIFI (for a fee of approximately € 60.00 per week and a deposit of approximately € 145.00 for the router). The WIFI works super well, even when you stream with several people at the same time. You take out the WIFI in your own name via a Swiss provider and you can pick up the router at the village shop upon arrival. Works fine. If you are interested, I will provide you with the information on how to arrange this.
From the front door of the chalet you can take beautiful walks over the mountain peaks, but you can also drive your car to the village in the summer and follow the marked hiking trails from there. There is also a golf course 200 m away on the alp. In the village there is a train station with a good train connection to the surrounding villages (such as Gstaad, Saanen and Zweisimmen), but also to the big cities such as Bern, Montreux and Basel. By car you can drive to the villages within 10 minutes and with an hour to Bern, among others. Outdoor pools are 10 minutes away (train or car) and the indoor pool of Gstaad is also 15 minutes away.
Here you will also find the large supermarkets such as Coop, Lidl and Migros.
With 20 minutes by car you are at the beautiful lake of Lenk or with less than an hour at Lake Thun.
Mountain bikers will also get their money's worth here. There are numerous paved and unpaved (mountain) routes.
If you opt for less effort, take the gondola to the mountain peaks in Schönried, Gstaad or Zweisimmen (there and back). Of course you can also walk down or trike. A unique experience for young and old (with reasonable fitness).
There is often plenty to do on the mountain tops: tobogganing, trampolines, playgrounds and/or small animals running free. Of course there is also a restaurant for refreshments.
In short, there is plenty to do in the area. Something for everyone.
In winter, you can easily reach the slopes from the chalet. Car not needed. The gondola slope is approx. 500 m away. You can easily slide to it, of course provided there is enough snow. The area is very snow-sure from Christmas to mid-March, but of course there are no guarantees. Please note that in winter the chalet is not accessible by car. You bring your luggage up on skis or with the sled. In the morning we skied to the bakery (supermarket) in the village and took the first lift over the unspoiled slopes back to the chalet. Enjoy nature and tranquility. You won't find après ski here. Eating out is also not an option. You are on your own, but if you love nature and skiing, that's wonderful.
