Drängstugan – attractive holiday home directly on the Klarälven

Welcome to Drängstugan, an attractive Swedish holiday home for up to 5 people, beautifully situated in Värmland, directly on the river Klarälven and with the vast Swedish forests on your doorstep.

Here everything revolves around peace, space and enjoying nature. From the terrace and the covered veranda you look towards the Klarälven and inside the wood stove and underfloor heating provide wonderful Scandinavian cosiness.

Drängstugan is a great base all year round. Come for a real Swedish winter with snow and winter sports, enjoy the beautiful autumn colors or experience the long Scandinavian days by the water in spring and summer.

The accommodation

Drängstugan can accommodate up to 5 guests and features 3 bedrooms: one bedroom with a queen-size bed, one with a double bed and one with a single bed.

On the ground floor, underfloor heating provides extra comfort. During cold autumn and winter evenings, it is wonderful to light the wood stove.

Kitchen, bathroom and comfort

The kitchen is fully equipped with a 4-burner hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, coffee maker, kettle and toaster. Crockery, glasses, cutlery, pots and pans are provided.

The bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink. In addition, there is a washing machine, hair dryer and drying rack. Bed linen and towels are included.

Winter in Sweden

When the snow falls, the surroundings of Drängstugan change into a beautiful Swedish winter landscape. Snow-covered forests, frozen landscapes and the tranquillity of Värmland provide a completely different winter experience than the large, busy winter sports areas.

Take a winter walk, go snowshoeing, go cross-country skiing or discover one of the other winter activities in Northern Värmland. Afterwards, you will return to Drängstugan, light the wood-burning stove and enjoy a warm evening at the Klarälven.

Skiing in Branäs

For a day on the slopes, the popular ski resort of Branäs is within reach. This family-friendly ski area has several slopes for beginners and experienced skiers, a gondola and opportunities for night skiing, among other things.

This allows you to combine a winter sports holiday with the peace and quiet of your own Swedish holiday home on the Klarälven.

Cross-country skiing in Långberget

Cross-country skiing enthusiasts can head to Långberget, where around 63 kilometres of groomed cross-country ski trails are available.

You can cross-country ski through the beautiful winter landscape of Northern Värmland, with forests, snow and miles of nature around you.

Huskies, snowshoes and snowmobiles

Do you want to experience the Swedish winter in a different way? In Northern Värmland there are opportunities for typical Scandinavian winter activities such as husky tours, snowshoeing and snowmobile tours.

This way you can ski, cross-country ski and get acquainted with the special winter nature of Sweden during one stay.

Chance of seeing the Northern Lights

During clear and dark nights, there is a chance to see the Northern Lights. Of course, we can never guarantee this special natural phenomenon; Visibility depends on solar activity, clouds and other conditions, among other things.

But if all goes well, the northern lights can also be visible over Värmland.

Directly at the Klarälven

One of the biggest advantages of Drängstugan is its location. You will stay directly on the Klarälven, surrounded by forest, water and the characteristic landscape of Värmland.

Have a morning coffee on the porch, stroll along the water, or just enjoy the silence. Moose, roe deer, foxes and beavers live in the area. There is also plenty to discover for bird lovers and nature photographers.

Brattfallet

A beautiful destination during your stay is Brattfallet, an impressive waterfall and gorge in Värmland.

You can walk here between rock formations, flowing water and forests. Brattfallet is worth a visit in every season: from the fresh green in spring and summer and the autumn colors to a special winter landscape.

Spring, summer and autumn

Drängstugan is also a wonderful holiday destination outside the winter season.

In spring and summer, the long Scandinavian days give you plenty of time for hiking, cycling, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking or boating. Or do nothing at all and enjoy the peace and quiet and the long Swedish summer evenings at the Klarälven.

In autumn, the forests around Drängstugan change into a colour palette of yellow, orange, red and gold. A wonderful period for walking, cycling, nature photography and spotting wildlife.

Kayaking on the Klarälven

We rent 2 kayaks, suitable for a maximum of 3 adults per kayak.

You can choose from a trip of about 2 hours or a longer trip of about 3.5 hours. The price is €25 per kayak including transfer to the starting point. From there, you paddle over the Klarälven back towards Norra Loffstrand Novilla.

A wonderful way to experience Värmland from the water.

Boating and fishing with our Whaly boat

We also have a Whaly boat, which is available with captain on request. You can choose a relaxed boat trip or a longer sailing or fishing trip.

For fishing, we have modern fish finders and GPS, with which you can look up interesting fishing spots.

Price on request. Availability depends on season and weather conditions.

The Klarälven and the many lakes in Värmland are also attractive for fishing enthusiasts. Various fish species can be found in the area, including pike, perch and trout.

Free use of our clubhouse

Guests of Drängstugan can use our cozy communal clubhouse for free. Ideal for a cozy evening or when the weather is not so good.

The clubhouse has table football, shuffleboard, darts, board and board games, PlayStation 4 with various games, DVD/CD player, 2 computers with internet, air conditioning and a wood stove.

There is also a communal fire pit on the site.

Practical information

Water and internet are included.

From September 1 to April 1, the electricity consumption of the holiday home is charged separately at SEK 6 per kWh, based on the actual consumption.

An initial amount of firewood is available for the wood-burning stove. Additional firewood is available for a small fee.

Parking is free on site. A 7 kW charging point is available for electric cars. Charging is charged separately at 7 SEK per kWh.

Drängstugan is pet-free. Are you traveling with a pet? Then our nearby Pigstugan is an alternative, where a maximum of 2 pets are allowed.

Personal welcome

When we are present, we like to receive our guests personally. We walk together through Drängstugan and explain the most important facilities.

If you arrive after 21:00, the key can easily be picked up via a key safe with code.

We speak Dutch, German and English and are happy to help you with information and tips about activities and the area.
