Fanbyn is a cozy holiday home in an easily accessible location.
The house is located on the edge of the village of Fanbyn with houses widely spaced apart. It is located near the E14 that connects Sundsvall with Östersund, and which ends in Trondheim after the Norwegian border. The grounds on which the house is located are 2 hectares in size and extend to the lake that you overlook. The view from the house of Sundsjön with one of the islands and the white church of Fjällsta on the other side is fantastic. The house is in a very quiet location, but the supermarket in Gällo is close by, a 9-minute (10 km) drive away. The large city of Östersund is just a 40-minute drive (40 km). A beautiful place to be in both summer and winter! The house is equipped with fast internet via fiber optic & WiFi.
Layout of the house
The entrance door is located under the covered veranda (2024). Straight ahead from the hall upon entering is the renovated bathroom. Also from the hall access to the kitchen, living room and stairs. Next to the kitchen with dining table is a small sitting room with a view over the lake. On the first floor there is a landing with access to two spacious bedrooms. Both bedrooms have a double bed (2m x 1.6m). One of the bedrooms has a single bed (2m x 90cm). In the garden there is another cottage with another single bed on the first floor.
kitchen
The kitchen is equipped with an electric stove with 4 hotplates (1 defective) and oven. The table model built-in refrigerator has a small freezer compartment. Furthermore, the kitchen is equipped with all standard amenities such as kettle, coffee machine, microwave, toaster and bakery. The cleaning cupboard contains the vacuum cleaner, mop, etc. There is no dishwasher. In the kitchen there is a dining table with 4 chairs. There are also two folding chairs available.
Living room
The living room has a sofa, coffee table and television with DVD player. One of the windows also offers a view over the lake.
Bathroom
The bathroom, completely renovated at the beginning of 2024, is located on the ground floor. This now has underfloor heating and a walk-in shower with lockable doors. Next to the toilet there is a small sink.
Winter
Because the street on which the house is located is kept free of snow all year round, you can easily reach the house all year round. In winter, winter tires are sufficient to get there. Diagonally opposite the house is the village hall where an illuminated cross-country ski trail has been constructed (2 km). Just before Gällo are the local ski slopes of Mickelbacken. Various ski areas can be found at a greater distance. But you can even ski here all year round because the longest ski tunnel is in Gällo (open all year round!).
Transport
You can fly via Arlanda Stockholm and then with a domestic flight to Östersund. Alternatively, you could also take the (night) train from Arlanda to Gällo station. An alternative is to fly to Trondheim (as KLM does every day) and then take the train or (rental) car. Arlanda is approximately a 5-hour drive away.
If you travel the entire journey by car, the night boat from Kiel to Oslo is recommended but often pricey due to its popularity. A cheaper alternative is the Finnlines night ferry from Travemunde (near Lubeck) to Malmö.
For the little ones
The storage room on the first floor contains a playpen, Ikea high chair, baby bath and (portable) camping bed that can be taken whenever desired.
Heating/cooling
The house is heated by a new air conditioning unit located in the central hall. This unit heats the entire house (or can cool it in the summer). The bathroom has underfloor heating with timer. In the sitting room there is an electrically adjustable radiator if desired. There is no wood stove.
Aquatics
There is a launching area a few hundred meters away (see photos). The locals launch their fishing boats here with the trailer behind the car. You can also launch your canoe there. You can then sail it to your own grounds. There is a small jetty there, but you can also pull the boat / canoe onto land. The lake is popular among fishermen because of its size and depth, the fish become quite large, according to the neighbors.
Sights
Giman, a 15-minute drive: the most popular place for Swedes to go fly fishing. But for nature lovers it is a beautiful place to walk on a beautifully landscaped plank path that runs along the river.
Midsweden 365 Indoor Skiing which is open all year round.
