Best way to get to know and enjoy Suriname is to take a few tours or stay at some places outside the city. A few of these places are shown on the map above, but there are much more places of interest. For an idea which tours are available just Google or contact me. If you do not want to travel with too much cash to Suriname and you want to be sure that the tour operator is paid when the tour takes place then again contact me. Here I will describe the tour to the Raleigh vallen.

Description of a 4 days tour made by me in Feb. 2023 to the Raleigh Vallen:
Day 1: With the bus from Paramaribo to Witagron, which takes about 5 hrs.
The road between Zanderij and Witagron is on most places sandy and
bad on some places due to lack of maintenance.
From Witagron you sail 2 hrs. by "korjaal" to Fungu Island.
This island is managed by STINASU a "stichting" owned by the government.
Day 2: From Fungu island, it is about 10 min by "korjaal" and then 5 to 6hrs walk
thru the jungle to the Voltzberg. From the foot of the Voltzberg it is a climb
of about 1 hr. to the top of the mountain. At the top there is a break of about
1 hr after which one returns to the lodge on Fungu island.
Day 3: From Fungu island, it is again about 10 min by "korjaal" and then a 2 hrs
walk to the "Mother Manari fall" and on the way back one can swim in the
river.
Day 4: Return to Paramaribo.

Other less intensive tours are for example: Isadou , Anaula and Berg & Dal .

Grocery store on 1 minute walking distance, where you can buy all your fresh vegetables, fruits, bread, milk, drinks, beers etc.
