RURAL LODGE EXTREMADURA E in Spain
Far away from the highway at the foot of the Spanish Gredos lies the Vera with snow-capped peaks and many mountain rivers. In this unspoilt region of northern Extremadura is finca La Oropendola. A farm located near the picturesque Cuacos de Yuste, where Emperor Charles V spent his last years in the famous monastery. Between olive and fig orchards you look out over a vast valley and the Gredos Mountains. The rustic, natural environment full of flowers, butterflies and very special birds is an ideal holiday destination for young and old. There is peace, space, plenty of walking opportunities, dozens of swimming paradises and beautiful villages with friendly people and lots of fun.
RURAL LODGE EXTREMADURA is a holiday home with a minimalist interior, a cozy terrace and (in summer) a swimming pond in a large garden. There are kitchen, dining room, toilet and sitting area. Open double bedroom and a bathroom with shower.
The walking distance to the nearby villages is less than half an hour; as a result, our farm is not connected to the mains and a (rental) car is recommended. We generate our electricity with solar energy and a generator. We pump water from the mountain. In the kitchen you can of course cook for yourself, refrigerator and stove run on butane gas. On request we also provide a delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner (drinks if desired).
We would like to invite you to our holiday home RURAL LODGE EXTREMADURA . A welcome drink and snack are ready!
WELCOME

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Extremadura, for the adventurous traveler! The Spanish Extremadura is located in one of the least populated areas of Southern Europe, only a few hundred kilometers from Africa. Air pollution is the lowest in Europe, agriculture is the most important industry. The overwhelming nature is grand and present everywhere. Animals, birds, reptiles and insects are also large and everywhere. Summers are hot, arid and dusty, winters wet and spring a sea of flowers. Do not expect the standard of living in the Netherlands or Belgium on holiday in Extremadura, a family income of €500 p/m is the rule rather than the exception. This has advantages: an ice-cold beer with a tapa costs €1.10 on a terrace and disadvantages: infrastructures for internet, electricity, water, gas and traffic are not self-evident. The residents of Extremadura are still satisfied with regular temporary power cuts, a tap that sometimes comes out with little or no water for hours. Gas is bought here in a bottle, the mail is often collected themselves. Exotic luxury products are minimally available, but there is a surplus of delicious seasonal products from the region that are happy to be shared. Due to its rural location, La oropendola is not connected to fiber optics, the (unreliable) national electricity network and water supply. We generate our energy independently with solar panels and a generator. We store electricity in batteries. We pump water from the mountain, heat water with a solar boiler (and a gas geyser if there is too little sun). In principle, there is always light, electricity (220V), cold and hot water available. However, water pressure and power supply may vary with weather conditions. Fridge and 4-burner stove work on bottled buta gas.
In short, on holiday with a minimal footprint!
