Casita Comares is a small-scale bed and breakfast and offers a variety of luxury, space and tranquility. The casita is a fully independent house, with a living room with kitchenette and private bathroom on the ground floor and a spacious bedroom on the first floor, with spectacular views of the hilly landscape and the Mediterranean Sea from several terraces, a fully equipped outdoor kitchen and our plunge pool (seasonal, open between April and October), which, if we are present, shared with us.
Due to its exceptionally mild microclimate, this region occupies a special place in Europe. The climate is the mildest in all of Europe and nowhere else will you find more hours of sunshine per year. The oldest part of the house is more than 200 years old. This used to be a donkey stable. That's why we've chosen to reflect this fact in our logo.
Casita Comares is located in the heart of La Axarquía, the 'homeland' of the Moscatel grape, directly east of the city of Málaga, within walking distance of the highest village in the region, Comares, also called 'the balcony of La Axarquía'.
The casita is an ideal place to start the day. The kitchenette inside has all the facilities you need to make a generous breakfast and a nice cup of coffee or tea. Every morning the baker comes to you with fresh bread. In the fully equipped outdoor kitchen, you can prepare meals while enjoying the beautiful views. For the afternoon and evening, there are several restaurants in the village. Whether you're in the mood for Ricardo's pizzas, Pepa's paella, or the traditional Spanish mountain cuisine of the Molino family, there's something for everyone. In the village there are several bars, a supermarket, a wood-fired bakery and other shops.
Comares is located in the province of Málaga, in the autonomous region of Andalusia. The village is located on a hill (at an altitude of more than 700 meters) and is the highest village of the many white villages (Pueblo Blancos) and cities in Andalusia. The origins of Comares as a village are somewhat confusing and although no one questions its importance during the Arab occupation, there is no clear indication that they were the founders of the settlement, which some say may date back to the 3rd century BC when the Greeks reached the coast of Málaga and went to Torre del Mar, and named it "Komaron", which means "Tierra de Madroños". However, there is no doubt that it was the Moors who created the unique urban layout of the village, the customs and the general character of the village itself and who also referred to it as "HISN COMARIX", which means "Castillo en La Altura" ("castle on height").
But although the village is often a side trip to visit around villages ("pedanías", such as Los Ventorros, Maxmúllar, La Alquería, Llano Almendra, Las Cuevas, El Romo and Los Gallegos) and other towns (such as Málaga, Granada, Córdoba and Seville), there is still more than enough to see, do and experience in Comares itself. For example, there is the unique Castillo de Comares, which can be found at the tip of the village. The small complex gives a comprehensive insight into the history of this village, but at the same time offers a truly beautiful view of the houses, buildings and surroundings of Comares. Anyone looking for another unique piece of architecture can visit the so-called 'door of Málaga'. The famous gate is literally and figuratively the entrance to the village. The gate itself is impressive, but the view is perhaps even more special. As soon as you pass through the gate, you will be treated to a panoramic view of the surroundings of the village. Here you can even look forward to the coastline of Andalusia. That is why it is also called "the balcony of La Axarquía".
Casita Comares is located in the middle of the Axarquía hiking trails. Through these paths you can take beautiful walks and walks through different routes. During the walk, you will come across various fruit trees, such as mangoes, avocados, almonds, pomegranates, figs and olives. In the village you will find the municipal swimming pool and you can use the Padel Court and other sports courts free of charge. The area is known for its routes for sporty cyclists through the beautiful mountains. There are also several zip lines (ranging from 436 meters in length to over 100 meters high, the longest zip line in Spain in natural anchorage), waterfalls, mountain climb, mountain bike and walkways. What we always like is to walk to the village at dawn, get a cup of coffee and then run back. The perfect start to the day.
