Caracola Apartment. Air conditioning

Welcome to the Caracola Apartment, a sunny and bright flat built on the first floor of a villa (no lift), in a very quiet neighbourhood of detached houses in the town of Chipiona.

Chipiona is situated on the northwest coast of the province of Cadiz, in the so-called Costa de la Luz, next to the mouth of the Guadalquivir river.

The charming and luminous Caracola Apartment has a capacity for 4 people, with two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds, a single bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. Bed linen and towels are provided in sufficient quantity. In the garden next to the house it is possible to park a car (included in the price).

The terrace, of about 30 m2, has a south-east orientation; it is protected by an awning which can be partially or completely taken down at will. It is furnished with a table and four comfortable armchairs with cushions. The terrace is ideal for al fresco dining, sunbathing, reading in the evenings or enjoying the warm summer nights. From the terrace you can access the roof terrace, which is a magnificent solarium.

We cannot accept pets. Final cleaning is included in the price, as well as internet and parking space. The air conditioning and heating have a cost of 1€ for every 4 hours of use (its use is optional). The owner will be waiting for the arrival of the tenants to hand over the keys and show them around the house.

You can take advantage of your stay in Chipiona to visit the extraordinary province of Cádiz; it has coast and mountains. On the Costa de la Luz, from Algeciras to Ayamonte (Huelva) there are hundreds of kilometres of the best beaches on the peninsula. Inland you can follow the White Villages Route and visit the Grazalema Nature Reserve. Visit Setenil de las Bodegas; you will never have seen anything like it.

What is the area like?
The quiet town of Chipiona, is located northwest of the coast of Cadiz, on the Costa de La Luz, just 52 km. Cadiz, the capital of the province is the oldest city in the West (3,000 years).

The origins of Chipiona goes back to Roman times. The most emblematic monument in Chipiona perhaps its lighthouse, which dates from 1867 and is built at Punta del Perro, in the same place where Quinto Servilio Cepión, the tower was built in 140 BC.

We can also see the Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Regla, with its Moorish cloister of the XV century and the image of the Virgin (XII or XIII century). The Parish of Nuestra Señora de La O (XVI century), the Castle was probably built on another of Arab origin around the year 1295 and the Fisheries Corrales (believed to be Roman).

From Chipiona, you can visit the wineries, the School of Equestrian and the Racing Circuit (in Jerez), the horse racing on the beach (in Sanlúcar de Barrameda), or to the Route of the White Towns in the Sierra de Cadiz, north of the province. The route enters the Grazalema Natural Park, declared a Biosphere Reserve, a must for those who enjoy active tourism and rural tourism.

And not far away, across the river, another natural park, the Doñana Natural Park.

Since Chipiona we can make excursions to Cadiz (52 km), to Seville (105 km), to Jerez de la Frontera (27 Km), to Ronda (150 km), to Setenil de las Bodegas (140 Km), to Malaga (260 km), to Gibraltar (145 km) toTarifa, the Windy City (150 km), to Portugal, Vila Real de Santo Antonio (250 Km), and even to Morocco. To go to Morocco, we will do by road to Algeciras (130 km), then board the ferry to Ceuta (1 hour of trip, 6 crossings daily) or to Tangier (1 hour trip, 40 trips per week). You can ship the car at the Ferry.

In the area of Chipiona you can see and practice a lot of activities, but especially we can enjoy its 14 Km. of magnificent beaches of fine golden sandy, some of them, awarded with the Blue Flag of the Clean Seas of Europe.

Hello, my name is Antonio and I am married to Mari. I am currently retired, but throughout my working life I have worked in a bank. I have been assigned to numerous branches in different places, but now I have my residence in Chipiona.
Chipiona is one of the main tourist destinations on the Costa de la Luz.
It has magnificent beaches of fine golden sand and wonderful promenades, where we can walk, sunbathe or enjoy the sea breeze.

Additional information

On many beaches in Chipiona, when the tide goes out, we can see "Los Corrales de Pesca" which are ancient fishing gear and almost unique in the world, believed to be Roman; only on the French island of Olerón, there are Fishing Pens practically the same as those that we can see today in Chipiona. It consists of a wall of porous stones built into the sea, which, starting from the shore, enters in a semicircle and returns to the shore again a few hundred meters from where it started. The stones are joined by a marine conglomeration, oysters, algae, rose hips (sea acorn) that act as natural cement. During the high tide, the wall is totally submerged and the fish can pass inside the semicircle; When the waters recede, due to the low tide, they remain trapped inside in small pools that are formed, from where they are easily captured. The fish are cornered, hence the name "corrales"

In the municipality of Chipiona there are 9 fishing corrals, in Rota 8, and some more in Sanlúcar de Barrameda.
The Lighthouse.- It is located in Punta del Perro, in the same place where Quinto Servilio Cepión, Roman proconsul, ordered the construction in 140 BC. a tower to prevent navigators who tried to go up the Betis River (Today Guadálquivir) the Salmedina reefs. It was called "Cepion Tower"

There are vestiges of older lighthouses in this same place, but the first one was the "Torre de Cepion".

The construction work of the current lighthouse began in 1863, and was completed on November 28, 1867, the day it worked for the first time, throwing flashes of light up to a distance of 23 miles (about 40 km).

It is currently the tallest lighthouse in Spain, the third in Europe and the fifth in the world. It is 69 meters long and it is necessary to climb 344 steps to reach the lantern. With the current lamp and lens that it has, and due to its height, its flashes are visible at 80 nautical miles (About 150 km.)
