Orba
Among the green hills of the Marina Alta is Orba, a village where the scent of orange blossom mixes with the sound of church bells and singing birds. Surrounded by mountains and valleys, and just a fifteen-minute drive from the coast of Dénia, Orba breathes pure, rural Spain. Here you live to the rhythm of the sun, among vineyards, almond trees and people who still know each other by name.
The property is located in the Orbeta district, about 5 minutes' walk from the center of Orba. This district has a centuries-old tradition of Ceramics and Pottery, In the district there are still small workshops where craftsmen produce handmade pots, bowls and décor pieces.
The village combines the best of both worlds: the tranquility of the interior and the proximity to the sea and lively coastal towns. Orba is a place for those who love space, sun and simplicity — where traditions are still alive, neighbours know each other and every day starts with light, silence and a touch of Mediterranean magic.
Are you staying in our villa in Orba? Then you are in the heart of one of the most beautiful hiking areas on the Costa Blanca. Forget the mass tourism of the coast; here you walk through an authentic Spanish landscape full of fragrant orange and almond groves.
Something for everyone. Whether you like a leisurely morning walk or a challenging hike, the Orba area offers it all:
- The Orba Valley: Directly from the villa you walk on sloping paths between the fruit trees. Especially in early spring, when the almond blossom colors the valley white and pink, this is a fairytale experience.
- The Girona River: Follow the riverbed for a flatter route with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
- The 'Barranc de l'Infern': For the experienced hiker, the "Hell of the Vall de Laguar" is a short drive away. This impressive route with more than 6,000 stone steps is also known as the 'Walking Cathedral' of Spain.
- Panoramic Views: Climb the surrounding hills for spectacular views that reach from the rugged peaks to the deep blue Mediterranean Sea.
Culinary
Orba's culinary life is deeply linked to the Valley, the seasons and tradition. In the kitchens of the village, recipes are still prepared as grandmothers did, with time, simplicity and local ingredients.
An absolute classic from this region is Arroz al Horno, a rice dish with chickpeas, potato, tomato and sausage. But also Olleta, a rich stew with legumes, vegetables and meat. Also because Orba is close to the coast, there is an abundance of dishes with fish and seafood.
A stone's throw away, mistela is produced, which is served in many restaurants at checkout. You can also taste Mistela and Moscatel at the Bodega Xalo (10 min drive).
