Additional information

Costa Blanca
The Costa Blanca means white coast and not as many believe because of the white sandy beaches but due to the white blossoms of the trees by the coast. The miles of sandy beaches characterize the northern part of the Costa Blanca and the mountain ridges and terraced almond and olive groves and orange and lemon trees on lower ground. The most important thing for a great holiday is of course the climate. In general, in summer the the temparatures are tropical and during the winter the temperatures are around 20 degrees.

Calpe
Calpe is a town in the Spanish province of Alicante in the Valencia region with an area of 24 square kilometers. Calpe has over 27,000 inhabitants. Calpe is not as well known as Benidorm, however, with the cyclists, it is widely known for its many cycling opportunities nearby. Many professional and semi professional cyclists train here during the winter. Calpe has a micro climate thanks to its location. In the winter months the weather is perfect for various cycling workouts.

The old center is still intact and contains traces of Moorish domination. Near the center lies the harbour. The old Calpe is definitely worth a visit, with its many murals, narrow streets and cafés. The Saturday market you can not miss: you will find both fruit and vegetables but also clothing and shoes.

Passing Calpe through the north east, you pass Las Salinas salt lake with a population of flamingos that live there all year round. Recently, there is a path laid out by this nature.

Besides walking and cycling it is also possible toplay golf. The nearest golf course is Golf d'Ifach:
Ifach Golf Club
Urb. San Jaime - Calpe
03720 Benissa (Alicante)

Rock of Ifach
The symbol of the Costa Blanca and certainly of Calpe! is the Penon de Ifach (Calpe Rock) - the natural rock with a height of 332m. Since 1987 is is a nature park. The rock is rich in flora and fauna. It is possible to climb the Rock! The summit can be reached via a path that leads through bird nests of more than 80 bird species. In Valencia, the cathedral is a major attraction besides a dozen of other sites: churches, palaces, museums and a botanical garden. Valencia is the third largest city of Spain and has of course great shopping streets. Valencia used the old Turia river for the largest science and aquarium in Spain and Europe (La Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias). The architecture is phenomenal and allows various natural habitats such as the Red Sea, the Antarctic with penguins, mangrove swamps with real fish and the Atlantic Ocean, which are underwater through a glass tunnel running with all species including sharks around you. The Spanish Mediterranean is also represented. The entrance is expensive but worth it.
