The coziness of the village square with its bars, the soothing friendliness of the residents, the low mountains that offer so many opportunities for walking and cycling : that is what immediately attracted us to this place. And just a half-hour drive from the coast, with various food & beverage options within walking distance .

Our villa is the perfect place for anyone who enjoys a relaxing holiday, with a little effort now and then.

If you want it all (like us), you can do so in this region! The Jalon Valley is 'the cream of Spain', halfway between Valencia (110km) and Alicante (80km). The climate in the Jalon Valley was once named by the World Health Organization as the healthiest in the world. Others say that the sun shines an average of 300 days a year. We always have wonderful times there, in all seasons, and would like to share that feeling with you.

As the name suggests, our Villa Arbolada is wonderfully located among the trees. It can accommodate up to 6 people and has two bedrooms (with air conditioning) and two bathrooms on the first floor. Downstairs, next to the private swimming pool, there is a separate (simple) apartment with a third bedroom and private bathroom, toilet, shower and kitchenette. The large south-facing balcony is central, with sun (almost) all day, and a fairytale view of the villages in the valley and the sunset behind the Col de Rates. With a bit of luck you can also spot the squirrels.
You can easily sit on the balcony with six people, but if you prefer to sit back, you can simply go to our lounge area; Here you can laze around in the afternoon while the children have fun in the shade. Or would they rather lie in the pool? There you can also laze in one of the beach chairs, sun or shade is up to you.

The pool is maintained all year round. The water temperature depends on the weather, but because the pool is in the sun the temperature is normally around 28 degrees from mid-June to the end of September. If spring is good, swimming can also be done at the end of May, but the swimming fun for us is usually over when a number of cold fronts have passed in October.

The villa also has a very spacious living room, with a nice seating area for winter evenings, two dining, puzzle or games tables and a cozy open kitchen with a so-called 'breakfast bar'. The kitchen is equipped with all kinds of conveniences, such as an oven, gas stove, kitchen utensils, combination microwave, dishwasher, but above all: an espresso machine and a citrus juicer. Nothing better than a glass of home-squeezed orange juice on the balcony, waiting for the squirrel...

If you would like to do something active after breakfast, Alcalalí and the surrounding area are in the right place: there is plenty to discover here. There is a folder with activities in the villa, but please feel free to contact us in advance for more details or personal tips.
It is not without reason that Matthieu van der Poel and many other professional cyclists regularly train here. Every now and then even the Vuelta passes through our valley. Thanks to the many cyclists, there is even a large cycling café with a terrace in Jalon, although Bar Toni in Alcalalí is also often the place to chat. The house has four mountain bikes that are suitable for daily use and short trips on asphalt. For more serious work, racing bikes and full-suspension mountain bikes can be rented in Jalon (can also be delivered).
The possibilities for beautiful walks are really too many to mention: the almond blossom walks in February, various mountain ridges with views, varied walks with many or few elevation meters. Of course, the short walk to Jalon (flea market on Saturday) or Parcent (eating paella at Era) are nice starters for the first day. For both cyclists and walkers: the combination with a paella at the Vista Bernia restaurant on a clear day is really tip no. 1.
You can swim not only in our own swimming pool, but also on one of the beaches in the area. They come in all shapes and sizes: large, wide sandy beaches (such as Arenal or Devesses) to small, intimate rocky beaches (such as Granadella).

Already on our first visit we fell in love with the Jalon Valley, and the village of Alcalalí in particular. Near the coast, but so very different from the commercial playas. The cosiness of the village square, the soothing friendliness of the locals, the low range mountains that offer so many opportunities for walking and cycling! That special feeling to discover new places from a relaxed 'home base', we would like to share with others.

Explanation of prices

With us you can decide on which days you want to come and go, whatever suits you best. We do use a minimum of 3 nights (6 nights in high season). See the table below for the exact prices per night for non-standard stays. If you want to stay longer than a week, we will reward your trust with an extra discount (outside the high season):
  • Second week = 10% discount
  • Third week = 20% discount
  • Fourth week = 30% discount
If you click on the correct days, the calendar will immediately calculate the correct price. Cleaning costs apply once per booking, bed linen/towels per person and are mandatory. Micazu used to not charge us any extra costs, but that has now changed! That is why we unfortunately had to increase our prices on this platform in 2022. The good news: despite global inflation, we have not increased our prices since then, and next season the prices will continue to apply as they are currently advertised.

The deposit will of course be refunded afterwards, unless there are costs to be settled. On the day of arrival, the house is in principle available from 3:00 PM. On the day of departure, you must return the home no later than 11:00 am.
High-speed WiFi is included in the price, as is electricity for normal use.
During the winter period the prices are excl. electricity.

NB: We of course hope that the fight against the coronavirus will not disrupt your holiday plans. If it is unexpectedly not possible to travel to Spain, we will always look for a solution together with the guest. However, we cannot be responsible for cancellations elsewhere (such as airlines), so if in doubt we recommend cancellation insurance .

Additional information

In the villa there is a folder with all kinds of tips for trips. Walking routes, cycling routes, beaches, trips in the area, amusement parks etc. Here we show some nice tips, but there is much more to do in the region. If you want to know more or have specific wishes, please feel free to contact us!
In February the almond trees show their blossom, making the entire valley white / pink. For Alcalalí a good reason for a party, with all kinds of festivities. (See eg http://www.feslali.com/en/programacion.php or mail us for more info).
At the beginning of May (usually the first weekend), the Xalonia music festival is organized in the neighboring village of Jalon. A weekend with various stages on which (mostly local) pop bands show their capabilities. Lots of fun!

In the days around 25 June are the annual 'Fiestas de Sant Joan'. This is the most important week of the year for residents, with processions, street barbecues, fireworks, various activities and music every day.
In early August (about 2-6 Aug) is the annual Fiesta Santo Domingo, in Jalon.

Article 1. Liability
Lessor cannot be held responsible for any disruption, modification or prevention of the stay of the customer, if this is the result of unforeseen or insurmountable events. Landlord cannot be held responsible for inconveniences caused by the work of third parties, such as municipality, province, etc. Nor can Landlord be held responsible for interruption of gas, water or electricity, both inside and outside the house. In the event of unforeseen repair work, the tenant cannot hold the landlord liable for any inconvenience. The landlord undertakes to repair the unforeseen damage to the property to the tenant as soon as possible.
Landlord declines any responsibility for loss, theft or damage to luggage, personal belongings or vehicle, and for costs, resulting from not reaching the holiday home or apartment on time as a result of delay.
The main tenant is liable for the entire group of co-tenants. The tenants are liable for all damage caused by them to the property and inventory (including the existing bicycles). This also includes damage caused by visitors. The tenant is obliged to report any damage directly to the landlord. The tenant will inhabit the rented property as a "good family man". It is not permitted to occupy the immovable property with persons other than those mentioned in the rental contract.
Article 2. Reservations and price.
A reservation is valid from the moment that the Landlord has received the required down payment. The payment of this means that the tenant has taken note of and agrees with the general rental conditions and the description of the property.
Article 3. Payment of the rent.
40% of the rent must be paid for each reservation. This deposit must be received by the Landlord within 13 days of the invoice date.
The remainder must be received by the Landlord at least 6 weeks before the start of the stay in the holiday home. If this payment has not been made in time, the tenant will receive a message with the request to pay the remainder within 5 working days. If no timely payment is made on this request, this will be regarded as a cancellation of the house by the tenant and the cancellation conditions of article 4 will apply. The Landlord then has the right to resell the holiday home in question for rent.
If the reservation takes place less than 6 weeks before the start of the rental period, payment of the full rental price must be made by return.
After receipt of the remainder of the rent, the travel documents are sent to the tenant immediately. This concerns all necessary information regarding directions, address and name of the person who arranges the reception.
Article 4. Cancellation by the tenant.
Tenant is advised to take out cancellation insurance. Any cancellation must be reported to the Landlord in writing or by email. The cancellation is only definitive after the Landlord has sent a confirmation of receipt. Landlord charges the following amounts, depending on the date of cancellation by the tenant:
• cancellation more than 3 months before the start of the rental period: 10 euros.
• cancellation between the 90th and the 60th day before the start of the rental period: 25% of the rent.
• cancellation between the 60th and the 42nd day before the start of the rental period: 40% of the rent.
• cancellation less than 42 days before the start of the rental period: 100% of the rent.
If the tenant does not use the holiday home or leaves it before the end of the rental period, no refund will take place.
Article 5. Cancellation by the Landlord.
If due to unforeseen circumstances Landlord has to cancel a lease, the tenant will be immediately informed and refunds will be made.
Article 6. Complaints and disputes.
If the tenant refuses to take possession of the holiday home, because the state of the house does not correspond with what he can reasonably expect, then he must immediately contact the landlord. If it is not possible to reach an agreement, he must have the complaint verified by an expert, a bailiff or a notary, in order to obtain an objective opinion. Complaints will only be handled if they are reported by telephone within 48 hours of taking possession of the holiday home and will be followed by a registered letter. The same rule applies if there is something serious during the stay in the holiday home.
The current contract has been drawn up and must be interpreted in accordance with Dutch law. Any disputes that might arise from this contract fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Dutch cantonal court.
Article 7. Description.
All loose-leaf information or information on the Internet site of the Landlord regarding the holiday home, the layout, the furniture or the relevant facilities has been provided in good faith. If a change takes place between the time of reservation and the start of the rental period, the Landlord will inform the lessee about this, but the Landlord can not be held responsible for this.
If, in spite of everything, the information concerning the holiday home, the layout, the furniture, the maximum number of occupants or the relevant facilities turns out to be incorrect, the tenant must inform the Landlord immediately, so that it can do something about it. to recover. All information concerning tourism and sports activities is provided by third parties and is not the responsibility of the Landlord.
Article 8. Arrival and departure.
The arrival in a holiday home normally takes place after 15:00, unless otherwise agreed. The holiday home must be vacated by 11:00 on the day of departure.
Article 9. Use of the bicycles
The Landlord can make a maximum of four bicycles available to the Renter, these are only for use on paved roads. No extra costs are charged for the use of these bicycles, and there is no right to compensation if the bicycles are in an unusable condition. If during the use of the tenants costs arise for necessary repairs, these will be settled with the deposit.
If one or more bikes have been left in defective condition by previous users, this must be reported to the Landlord as soon as possible. In Spain it is mandatory to use a bicycle helmet outside the urbanized area.
Article 10. Pets.
It is not allowed to bring a pet into the villa, unless it is a medically necessary assistance dog.
Article 11. Smoking and open fire
Smoking is not permitted in and around the house. Also making open fire, for example for a barbecue, is not allowed. Barbecuing is allowed with the gas barbecue present.
Article 12. Guarantee.
Tenant pays a deposit of € 300, - in advance. This will be refunded within 14 days after the end of the rental period, possibly after deduction of extra costs for electricity consumption (only in the months of Nov-Feb) and repair of damage to the house ascertained afterwards.
Article 13. Cleaning.
The house should be found clean and tidy. If this is not the case, this must immediately be reported by the Lessee to the person who arranges the reception so that he can correct it. In addition, the tenant must report this to the Landlord within 24 hours. Upon departure, the tenant must leave the house clean. Waste must be deposited in the designated containers (downstairs at the entrance to the district). Landlord appreciates it if any comments and comments are passed on to him.

Nowadays we have internet via fiber optic, with which speeds of up to 300 Mbps are possible. There is WiFi via both the 2.4 and the 5 GHz band.
You can watch the Dutch public and commercial TV channels via the internet using our NLZiet subscription. But of course you can also watch TV, Youtube etc via your own mobile apps and our Chromecast connection.
