We found spoonbills 10 minutes by bike.
The beautiful Delta Park Neeltje Jans is a 10-minute drive away.
A tough climbing park is a 10-minute walk away. Fun for sporty young and old. There are various routes from 5-6 years old.

Veere is one of the most beautiful places in Zeeland. It was once a powerful trading town on the Veerse inlet on the island of Walcheren. Veere is now a beautiful town on the Veerse lake, a fifteen minute drive from Middelburg. Former richly loaded ships from Scotland have now given way to beautiful yachts in the ports. A short walk through Veere gives a good impression of its rich history. One of the main attractions is the Grote Kerk from 1348. The beautiful church building has an eventful past. From 1811 onwards it was used as a military hospital by Napoleon's soldiers. The beautiful 15th-century town hall of Veere is a little further away. The Campveerse tower and the Scottish houses on De Kaai are also worth a visit. These houses were built in the 16th century by wealthy Scottish merchants and now house a museum.

Nice things to know about Veere

  • Veere used to be called Campvere: the place from which the ferry left for Campen (now Kamperland) on Noord-Beveland. From May to September there is still a ferry between the two towns.
  • Dutch King Willem-Alexander holds the noble title ‘Marquis of Veere and Vlissingen’.
  • Veere was often mentioned in the TV comedy ‘Oppassen!!!’ where Coen Flink played the character Henry Buys. A well-known quote of his is: ‘The name is Buys, ex-mayor of the beautiful town of Veere’.
