Rhenen is located in the far southeast of the province of Utrecht. The city lies on the flanks of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, one of the largest nature reserves in the Netherlands. This mean so a holiday home in Rhenen is a fantastic destination for nature lovers. Lovely waking and cycling routes have been set out on and around the Grebbeberg hill, which will lead you past the most beautiful spots. The "Blue Chamber" floodplain area for example, is a paradise for bird watching. Every spring, a large colony of cormorants, blue herons and spoonbills breed here. On the other side of Rhenen there are extensive forests, which are interspersed with heaths and grasslands. This is also a great place for walking and cycling. Keep your eyes and ears open and spot special bird species such as the nightjar, green woodpecker and wood lark.

Sights in and around Rhenen

Rhenen has plenty to offer for a wonderful holiday or a weekend getaway. The town lies on the banks of the Lower Rhine and has a number of beautiful sights. The most striking is the imposing Cunera church tower, a fine piece of architecture from the 15th century. The historic Binnenmolen is also worth a visit. This flour mill was built in 1893 to replace a so-called "post mill" on the same site. Perhaps Rhenen's best-known attraction is Ouwehand Zoo, one of the most beautiful zoos in the Netherlands and even in Europe. This means there a plenty of reasons to choose a holiday home in Rhenen.
