Holiday homes in De Cocksdorp
De Cocksdorp is the youngest village on the island of
Texel. It is located in the far north of the island, close to the photogenic red lighthouse. There is a real holiday atmosphere in De Cocksdorp all year round. Island visitors and villagers like to come to the nice Kikkerstraat to go
shopping. There is also a wide choice of restaurants where you can taste different culinary specialities. But most people come to De Cocksdorp to enjoy the beautiful nature of the Wadden Islands and the Wadden Sea. Many
walking and
cycling routes have been set out directly from the village. These will lead you past the most beautiful spots on the island, through the dunes and along the coast. So put on your walking shoes or rent a bike and explore the area.
Get out and about to explore the island
Texel is a paradise for nature lovers. This certainly applies to De Cocksdorp, which is surrounded by well-known nature reserves such as De Schorren, De Volharding, De Slufter, the Eierland Dunes, the Roggesloot and the Krimbos. There are walking and cycling routes for all ages, even for families with children. They will be amazed during the Easter holidays - when Texel is teeming with lambs. Children can even cuddle lambs at the Texel Sheep Farm (in
Den Burg): highly recommended for an afternoon out! Another nice outing is a boat trip on the Wadden Sea from the harbour of Oudeschild. Chances are that you will see some seals! On the way, the skipper will catch shrimp for you to eat directly on board. Or pay a visit to the Ecomare nature museum, where you can learn everything about the nature of the Wadden Islands and the Wadden Sea.
