The neighbourhood
The site is 1.85 hectares and runs into forest at the rear. Walking approximately 100 meters along the ditch, the forest area of Landgoed het Zand is easily accessible from here. Stage 14 of the famous Pieterpad runs through this estate. But conference visitors to the Betteld now also know where to find the holiday home.
The village of Zelhem can be reached by bicycle via the old railway path, approximately two and a half kilometers.
If you do not have bicycles yourself, you can rent them at Kappert in the village of Zelhem.
There are several estates and country houses with their associated castles/country houses between Zelhem, Hengelo, Vorden and Ruurlo. See, among others, the 8 castles route.
Sights nearby include the smallest town in the Netherlands, Bronckhorst at 18 km, s'Heerenberg Castle at 24 km and the Hanseatic cities such as Zutphen and Doesburg. The center of Zutphen is worth a visit with its special shops in monumental buildings, but boating on the old city canal near the fortress wall is also possible. But Laag-keppel (13km) is also worth a visit with Keppel Castle, a water mill and the old IJssel. An old Hessenweg (dirt road) also runs here through the forest from Hoog-Keppel to Doetinchem.
The holiday home is located 2 kilometers (25 minutes walk) from the Betteld campsite, where conferences are regularly held.
