On the edge of the woods in Gaasterland, quietly situated just outside the town of Oudemirdum, lies
Our bright cozy cottage (75 m²), on a plot of 1000 m² with lots of privacy, in the middle of an (open and sunny) beech forest. The cottage was completely renovated in 2017 ! It has a spacious, sunny terrace behind the house, a barbecue and a fireplace in the garden and a shaded terrace next to the house. One half of the garden is 'forest garden' so a bit wild, beautiful plants and flowers grow there and the animals are happy with it. The other half is grass/terrace.
Layout: hall, bathroom with shower and toilet, modern spacious kitchen with large gas stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher and all necessary kitchen utensils. Spacious, bright living room with sitting area with a comfortable sofa (new in September 2020) and 2 armchairs, gas stove, and a separate dining area, TV and music player. The house also has central heating throughout. On the ground floor are the two bedrooms: one with three single beds (13m2), sink and separate toilet and one with double bed (9m2). (provided with new mattresses in September 2020) Spacious modern bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Attached to the cottage is a storage room with a washing machine. There is room for two cars in the driveway.
The cottage is located on a small-scale park with private holiday homes, without special facilities. There is a small playground. From the cottage you can walk within one minute in the vast Gaasterland forests, a perfect place to relax. Here you can enjoy walking, cycling and horseback riding. There are marked walks and also a gnome path for the children. The IJsselmeer is nearby, about three kilometers as the crow flies, and you can walk right through the meadows to it in an hour. Here you can swim and kite surf or sit on a terrace at the Mirnser Klif. Also on the water is 'De Hege Gerzen', with a beach, miniature golf and a playground. A 10-minute walk from the cottage is the Wyldemark, a lake where you can sail, for example via the Luts to Balk. In the immediate vicinity you can rent a boat in several places. The cozy green village of Oudemirdum is within walking or cycling distance (500 meters) and there you will find a bakery, butcher, supermarket, bicycle rental ('t Hoekje) and several nice terraces and restaurants.
The beaches at Stavoren are 10 km away.
Gaasterland is the southernmost part of Friesland, containing the well-known towns of Balk, Stavoren, Hindeloopen, Lemmer and Sloten. Gaasterland's slogan: from the forest straight onto the water! At 1 km from the cottage you will find the Gaasterland Golf Course. In Balk (8km) or Woudsend (14km) you can rent a boat and go directly to the Slotermeer or the Fluessen and the Gaastmeer respectively. On the Wyldemerk, 0.5 km from our house, you can rent a sloop.
The beautiful city of Sneek is 25km from Oudemirdum.
