On the outskirts of Exloo in the middle of the large garden of Zuideinde 24 (almost 4300 m2) is "Eindeloos Exloo". A fully equipped holiday apartment of 50 m2. If you like to be outdoors endlessly, walk, cycle or want to visit sights of Drenthe, this is your endless place. And if you walk stage 12 of the Drenthepad, this is a perfect place to spend the night.
The apartment Eindeloos Exloo: The holiday apartment is located in the basement that can be reached from the garden via a few steps. When you enter, you first find yourself in the kitchen with a beautiful farmhouse dining table and 4 chairs, an induction stove with electric oven and a Smeg fridge with freezer compartment. There is both a nespresso and a filter coffee machine and a milk frother available. Behind it is the comfortable sitting area with TV. If you go around the corner you will find a wardrobe and the sleeping area with a double bed (160x200 cm). Adjacent to the bedroom is the luxurious bathroom with toilet, sink and spacious shower.
Parking: There is sufficient parking space for your car and/or bicycles on the site. There are several charging stations for hybrid or electric cars in the area.
The garden: The large garden is made up of several parts: a former orchard, a vegetable garden and "the secret garden"; A wonderful place to imagine yourself alone in the world. Lawns everywhere surrounded by trees, shrubs and plants and an endless view towards the heath of the Molenveld. In the garden we have several seating areas where you can read a book or just stare at the beautiful surroundings.
Public transport: The bus stops directly in front of Zuideinde 24 in the direction of Emmen. You can get there in 20 minutes and find additional opportunities for shopping, visiting restaurants and going to Wildlands Zoo or the cinema, for example. On the other side of the street, the bus leaves for the center of Exloo and from there also to Borger.
The area: In the apartment you will find hiking and cycling maps to discover the area. Wonderful experiences await you on foot or by bike. But you can also enjoy swimming in the De Leewal swimming pool or use this place as a break for a drink.
In the center of Exloo you will find the Hallenhoes. Here is the shop of the Schaapskudde. You can find many products made of wool and other local products there. And you can also eat or drink something on the terrace and there are exhibitions of local artists. On Wednesday afternoons there is also a small market at the Hallenhoes. In the center you will also find several restaurants and shops. But don't forget the northeast side of Exloo: there is the Country Shop and the (electric) bicycle rental Ecotours.
On the Molenveld with its beautiful heaths and fens, the Drenthe Heath Sheep of Exloo can be found from April to November. They leave daily from April to October at 10:00 am from the sheepfold in the center of the village and return there at 4:00 pm. But there is more, just to discover from Eindeloos Exloo.
The Odoorner dennen is an area between Exloo and Odoorn where you walk through a beautiful hilly landscape with forests and heaths. The Saber-toothed tiger route can be found across the street. You will pass burial mounds and a smaller Dolmen, the D31. North of Exloo you will find the Boswachterij Exloo. Again a beautiful forest in which you will also find the Dolmen the D30. If you have cycled through that, you will end up in Ees or Borger. Although the Hunebed Highway (the N34) seems to be the border of the beautiful area, this is not the case. Cycling on the other side you will arrive in a beautiful part of Boswachterij Odoorn. You can also cycle to the Harwi sculpture garden in Eeserveen. By car you will find a huge and very beautiful gallery and sculpture garden Big Art & Garden a little further away in Gees. You can taste the love for beauty in this garden.
You can also visit the 18-hole golf course of Golfpark Exloo in the area. And you can go horseback riding in Buinen at Les Cheveaux.
In Borger, a visit to the Hunebedcentrum with the largest dolmen in the Netherlands, the D27, is really worthwhile. And if you plan it on a Friday, you can visit the market in the morning hours. And you will also find various shops and terraces there.
Feel free to ask us about more fun activities! There is a lot to enjoy in Drenthe!
We are Wilco and Lucia. Since 2021 we live in beautiful Exloo. After a life of busy jobs and other activities, we enjoy the peace, nature and the view from our lovely garden every day. We do this with our 3 cats and our chickens. Because the place where we have moved offers enough space for a holiday home, we have realized this in the annex next to our house. Since August 5, 2024, it has been available to you. You are very welcome there.
